Howdy, Been working on some 1/56th scale LCVPs from Corsec, and am looking for some painting tips. The kits themselves, btw, are plain but assemble well. I've added the struts on the sides of the armor plating as well as cleats and the bollard in the rear. Magnets in the assault doors keep them closed. But after priming them grey -- how else can I make these look more interesting? * Is this the proper (or close enough) grey? * Should I use a wash to make the rivet lines stand out? * Weathering effects? * Uniform guide for the boat crew? Any ideas welcome!

They should be fairly new so they should not be rusty. Water stains, oil stains, exhaust stains, yes, but rust, no. That is assuming you are going for Normandy and not something in the Pacific. Maybe go with panel highlighting where you airbrush the center of each panel a slightly lighter color Or like this picture some weird patterns of various blue/greys

Thanks, I'll look for more color images. Can't find any painting guides, not even at the FOW site. Oh, I think the LCVPs are just grey, but we're seeing sunlight reflecting off the water ripples onto the boats. |

That's not a weird pattern of blues and greys. That's staining on the upper surfaces and light reflecting off the water on the lower vertical surfaces. Notice there is no weird pattern on the upper vertical surface, right below the soldiers' arms. |

I meant "weird" as in painting technique not in actual colors… like maybe use stippling |
