I'm getting ready to paint up some LCVPs for D-Day, and wondered exactly what paints to get? Double check me here: Poking around a bit, I'm guessing most models are painted as USN color 5-H Haze Grey? This ( PDF link ) gives a Vallejo equivalent of 870 Medium Sea Grey ( link ) which looks close to me, but maybe a little dark. What do you guys think? |

Here is a color: Vallejo's model colour nr. 903 Azul Americano or Intermidiate Blue and here is a picture with the color used(scroll down the page): link |

Wal-Mart $.99 USD spray paint Equipment Gray Primer. I sprayed this over Wal-Mart $.99 USD Flat Black. How many bottles of Vallejo do you think it will take to cover 6 LCVPs? I am very much a cheap proponent of the "Looks good enough to me, and besides, paint fades in the salt spray, wind and sun" school. I am also a cheap proponent of the Gaming Models $6 USD landing craft. |

How many bottles of Vallejo do you think it will take to cover 6 LCVPs? One if the are 6mm. One and a half to two if 15mm. I have never tried so I really don't know. I know that with but three drops I can paint up a T34. |

"I am also a cheap proponent of the Gaming Models $6 USD USD landing craft." For half the price of one of those, you can get a pack of a hundred 5" x 8" index cards. Take one, cut four slits with an X-acto, fold up the sides, stick with four dots of glue, and you have a perfectly good landing craft stand-in for a couple of cents. You need to get better at this frugal gaming thing, John. Allen |

I also have Paper Terrain's models. Pretty nice, and pretty cheap. |

I have painted the vast majority of my models in craft paints, so I'm no stranger to your mindset, OFM. That's just not what I'm going for with these. |
