OK, this is the right board for this post. There are some very creative screen names on TMP. So, how or why did you choose your particular screen name? Inquiring minds want to know.

In my case it references our(me and SWMBO) company Stone Mountain Miniatures. And yours?

Old Wolfman02 Aug 2017 7:10 a.m. PST

Part of mine,I got from my Aerodrome 1.1 call-sign,"Wolfman". The "Old "part, took that from a previous screen name I used.

Zinkala02 Aug 2017 7:17 a.m. PST

I've got a bit of Lakota Souix ancestry. Zinkala was my grandpa's Lakota name and a medecine man that was close to my family gave it to me to. So I started using it and I'm either Zink or Zinkala on the various forums I post on.

rustymusket02 Aug 2017 7:31 a.m. PST

I was 50 years old and was reenacting 1750's Illinois Country and owned a musket for reenacting. Now I feel even rustier.

Name given to me in boot camp by a fellow recruit from Alabama as my last name is Mesquita.

Moonbeast02 Aug 2017 8:04 a.m. PST

I discovered Lovecraftian horror at an early age and have always loved it. Combine this with the fact that I have been working the 3rd/night shift at every job I've ever had for the past 27 years and the name just fit.

Son of MOOG02 Aug 2017 8:15 a.m. PST

As I am a big Star Trek fan mine came from Worf on Next Generation (House of Mogh) and the fact that I worked for a company called MOOG at the time I joined…..hence Son of MOOG.

Extrabio1947: A Roswell alien. Extraterrestrial Biological Entity 1947. I have no idea why I came up with it, but I've used it for 20 years or more.

I'm strictly a historical wargamer, no fantasy or sci-fi for me.

Personal logo StoneMtnMinis Supporting Member of TMP02 Aug 2017 8:40 a.m. PST

UhOh….Roderick we can't allow actual names so we all know that is a fake name. You can't fool a TMP'er. grin

PVT64102 Aug 2017 8:44 a.m. PST

I was a Pvt. in the recreated 64th Regiment of Foot for reenacting the AWI. Added the 1 to make the required length for the screen name.

Personal logo miniMo Supporting Member of TMP02 Aug 2017 8:59 a.m. PST

Mo is standard short for Maureen. Too short for a screen name here though.

That was before roller derby. Now, more folks call me Cat, and I use that on other forums I've signed up on since then.

Personal logo StoneMtnMinis Supporting Member of TMP02 Aug 2017 9:01 a.m. PST

miniMo – OK, you are going to have to explain the roller derby comment grin

flooglestreet02 Aug 2017 9:16 a.m. PST

I once aspired to being the top banana in a Burlesque show. Flooglestreet is a reference to one of the great Burlesque comedy routines, 'How to get to Flooglestreet.

It's a reference to the Traveller universe, where I have been playing and running games of all sorts since soon after it was first published.

Chris Wimbrow02 Aug 2017 9:43 a.m. PST

It's my short form, real, friends and family name. Also who I am at ConsimWorld. I can barely keep up with what I use everywhere else.

josta5902 Aug 2017 10:27 a.m. PST

Wow, there are a lot of interesting responses here. Great idea for a thread.

I've been using mine for more than 20 years. Back in college, when the internet was just becoming really accessible, I was into the soft drink Josta (R.I.P.) and the rock band Starflyer 59. They don't really apply anymore.

Whenever it's time to decide on a username, I usually use this so I don't have to remember something new. Just lazy, really.

PzGeneral02 Aug 2017 10:29 a.m. PST

Computer game from SSI I played a lot. And when I began developing "Tigers and Stalins" my friends started calling me this. It has stuck.

Patrick R02 Aug 2017 10:31 a.m. PST

It's ancient Sanskrit for "He who cannot think of a better fake claim behind his screen name."

Personal logo miniMo Supporting Member of TMP02 Aug 2017 10:32 a.m. PST

@StoneMtnMinis, I strapped on a pair of roller skates for the first time in my life a month before I turned 49. Skated in my first derby bout a month before I turned 50. Skated for 3 seasons until back strain from remodelling work on our house did me in.

Cat O'Mighty #1959. In this photo, I'm wearing the black WMD (Western Mass Destruction) jersey and the pink helmet with the cat ears; taking down the Ironbound Maidens' jammer. It was Garden State's home match, so they got to wear their greens. WMD had to wear our away team black since we couldn't use our usual olive drab. (The referees call penalties by team colour & player number.)

Everyone I've met during and after derby calls me Cat, pre-derby friends tend to go with Maureen or Mo.

-Cat =^,^=

Royal Air Force02 Aug 2017 10:43 a.m. PST

Mine is in reference to my unique and deadly marital arts style, taught to me by an ancient master in a ridiculously remote Buddhist monastery.

I borrowed the name of one of the historical characters invented to put some fun in tests. It seemed well received.

My reason hasn't changed.

I'll leave to others for now to see if any answers have changed for any names that match then and now. grin

Example, Mr.Shagnasty is consistent over the years.

Thank you to all who have responded so far. I have really enjoyed finding out a little more about you TMP'ers. I have found this to be a nice break from some of the usual fare.

So to all of you a BIG thumbs up

PS: If you haven't responded yet, please do.

goragrad02 Aug 2017 1:11 p.m. PST

Had to come up with a 'company' name for a college design project and when ebay needed a user name just grabbed that.

From there just consistency.

Liliburlero Supporting Member of TMP02 Aug 2017 1:22 p.m. PST

It's the name of my all-time, favorite march. Also there are several ancestors named Lillie/Lili/Lily in the family tree.

COL Scott ret02 Aug 2017 1:38 p.m. PST

COL because I am a US Army Colonel, Scott is part of my last name, ret added when I retired from the US Army.

BTW retiring does not mean you lose your rank, you earned it you keep it for life.

Not asked but answered: my personal logo is a ranger tab because I earned it the hard way (208 days- don't ask if you don't want to know) grin
