As one of my side projects I play 15mm Song of Drums and Shakos – very small scale Napoleonic skirmish – which lets me have a breadth of units since a pack of 10 is enough for a force. I'm in a club that plays 6mm Naps, so I get my big battle fixes that way.

Most of my figures are from Lancashire, they work well for my little project, with some Minifigs to fill things in. They have a sale on, so I'm figuring out where I'd like to work on next, and the KGL has always interested me as a casual observer (i.e. read Sharpe novels where they rescue him).

I bought the Osprey, read the TMP posts on the subject, hit my head against a few walls, then thought I'd work through my possible proxies here to see what input I could get. I'm basically looking for close enough, I'm not interested in (or good at) heavy modifications; I'm also working without good illustrations of a few of the types.

What I want are a few options for both the early and late-ish periods of their uniforms, so before 1812 for the infantry, and after; before 1814 for the cavalry, and after. The cavalry seems ok, just two types of figures for each period and I can match them up.

The infantry though…

Here's where I stand with some of my infantry options. Ideally I'd do two types from each period, preferably the guys who tended to run around on their own and have adventures. The code in brackets are the Osprey plates:

Early Period –
1) Sharpshooter – w/rifles, otherwise as line?
2) Light Battalion – Stovepipe shako, musket or rifle (could be either)
3) Line (D2) – Stovepipe shakos, musket

Late Period -
4) Line (D3) – Belgic Shako, musket
5) Light Company – Belgic Shako, rifle
6) Pre-Waterloo Sharpshooters (H2) – Side-mounted plumed Belgic shako, rifles
7) 1815 Light Battalion (D1) – basically Br. rifle?

Then my Lancashire choices are:
Centre coy w/stovepike shako – #3?
Flank coy w/stovepike shako – #2?
Centre coy w/Belgic shako – #4
Flank coy w/Belgic shako
Fusiliers (just throwing them in for completeness)
Riflemen – #7, maybe #5 and #1?

What do people think? Would those be close enough, and any idea on the Sharpshooters after the uniform change but before they became the light companies? Lancashire does have a bunch of British allies available, though no Hannoverians, and I could look at another manufacturer as long as they would fit well with the Lancs/Minifigs.

Thanks!
Chris

The uniforms were basically the same so for KGL just buy standard British line. This old thread may be of some use:
