Where do you paint miniatures in your house? The assumption is that with the exception of "e," the room serves functions unrelated to the hobby.

a. Living Room
b. Dining Room
c. Den/TV Room
d. Bed Room
e. Hobby Room (room designated for painting/wargaming)
f. Basement
g. Utility Room
h. Garage

A, I have a painting desk set-up along one of the short walls in my living room.

Eventually I will clean off the small table in the spare bedroom that houses all my miniatures so I can paint and construct there.

E. It is a fairly good sized room that also serves as my office. I have a 4x8 table and a fair amount of shelving to hold my figures. My office side has a nice sized desk that has plenty of rum for writing as well as my three laptops and computer screen. It is the most comfortable set up I've had in all my years of gaming.

Different places. Sometimes at dining table. Sometimes on couch. Depends on what wife is doing. I'd rather be around folks.

But I often have to bring along extra light.

G. My painting table and storage shelves are in the utility room, which is located in our basement. It is nice and quiet, and the water heater is my constant companion.

E. My wife designed the room when we had the cellar finished. So now rather than a corner of the unfinished cellar now I have half of the finished area.

E. Bought my current house in no small part because of an existing office with a huge wraparound built-in desk that was truly destined to be my hobby workshop.

@PatrickWR – would you take a picture of that set up? I'd love to see it.

E – I built an addition to the house with a garage. Put a gaming room behind the garage and paint at one end of the gaming table. I did have a painting nook to use, but friends like to come over and paint, so moved to the table. I think my game table has seen more painting action in the last two years than gaming.

@PatrickWR – that is a great set up. I love the fact that you have a nice big window right in the middle of the table. Thank you for sharing the picture.

This is my set up at the moment.

Living room I also like to be in the same room as everyone else. Currently using a folding card table and a smaller folding TV table. Hoping to pick up a small writing desk similar to Extra Crispy's when we move house in a few weeks.

B. For now. I had a painting room before children. They are close to leaving the nest. I shall return.

Salutations, gentlefolk,

Am living in ye senior citizens' home, in 'one-room-plus-kitchen apartment', so would have to say A, B, C, D & E all at once ;-)

Was reading the Bearded Bastard's Lament blog, his excoriation of those who paint figures but leave the base unflocked. Now, I'm in that group – armies ready to go, bags of flock on hand, but trying to figure out how to get them grassified without sneezing green stuf until next year…

Suggestions earnestly sought. Thanks very much for any help you can give on this quandry.
