Hi folks,

I'm currently painting some 1/285 CinC US vehicles from the 1980s. The M113s sport gunners firing from open hatches; the M106 mortar carriers have interiors with mortars, revealed by open hatches.

Even though the scale is small and I don't want to get too bogged down in detail, I do have questions. What color was used for the interiors of such vehicles? Also, would it be visible from the insides of hatches? I'd especially like to get the insides of the mortar carriers done correctly.

Thanks in advance for your help! Jeff

The interior on our tracks in 3/5 Cav in the early 80s was just OD. The exception was up in the drivers compartment where it was light interior green color.

Just to clarify, the above is for the mortar tracks. The insides of the 113's was the light interior green. However the inside and the hatches was OD.

Thanks! That's just what I need to know.

Yes, I agree with Onomarchos. I'd been around a lot of M113s back in '84-'90. And that is how I remember it also.

There are color photos of M113 interiors posted on this TMP thread. Just scroll down …

Thanks, Legion 4! My 1/285 miniatures will probably never do justice to what you and Onomarchos remember about your military service or the photos you provided. Still, I'll give it my best shot.
