I am starting to venture into doing some pots-apoc gaming and am trying to find a source for the following:

In 15 MM – bits to create a fortress gate/wall: like old tires, corrugated metal, shipping containers, etc.

In 10 MM – cars for modifying to Road Warrior types.

I game in 15 MM and often use bits from other scales since the rules I play is HOTT>

So far, I've had no luck finding much of the above, and am hoping others might be able to help.suggest vendors/

Thanks,

Terry

for 15mm look at some HO model railway stuff, for 10mm look at N guage – some usable stuff available. Also, a lot of people are making 15mm scenery these days too – but for the life of me I cannot recall names right now typically. I'll come back when I do!

Thanks ABHS. I have been looking at railroad stuff too, but man the prices are through the roof. I do appreciate the suggestion and especially the reference to scales.

If it is feasible, attend a model railroad show; you should find lots of people with used stuff they want to get rid of.

Does not help you directly, but I recently backed a 3D Printing terrain project on Kickstarter called Thunder Chrome. The .STL files you get are a mishmash of cobbled together metal panels that are used to make buildings.

But .STL files can be resized to make them any size/scale.

I think they have a free shack available for download as a sample. You could think about maybe getting the free download, and then sending it to one of the 3D Printing Hubs and asking them how much to print the panels at a certain scale.

Just to get an estimate.

Even just the free building will have four sides and a roof, and probably every panel would look like a post-apoc wall hammered together from all sorts of miscellaneous panels.

Here is a link to the campaign, just so you can see the various panels. Something to think about at least.

I am just getting started printing out panels for my post-apoc gaming. And these look excellent!

I think most car tires have about a 24-inch diameter, right? If so, that translates to a 6mm diameter:

The only one in a stack that really needs the hollow detail is the one on top, right? So, buy a set of tires from the HO scale modelers, and then cap each stack of beads with one of those tires..

PS. Here are some metal and wooden ones, if you prefer. Just don't buy stone or glass. Those surfaces don't take paint well.

Terry

Styrene sheet. On the cheap, buy plastic "For Sale" signs (its styrene). Spray paint them aluminum or steel (or for rusted metal, iron, etc, a coat of textured spray paint)

Cut out sections, dent, bend, and poke holes in them, and even emboss rivit/screw holes with a awl. Weather, paint as desired, and boom! A pile of scrap metal sheets and panels to make walls and barricades.

Use ball point pen ink tubes, heavily rusted, for piles of scrap pipe. Balsa wood in tiny diameter sticks makes scrap 2x4s. 1/64 metal cars, bought in mass cheap at flea markets, or in packs at dollar stores, etc, can be cut in pieces and thrown in as wall material.

Wedding veil fabric, cheap at any fabric store or wal mart, spray painted metalic, then dipped into a rust colored wash of paint and water, hardens enough that you can bend it and twist it. Boom! Tons of chain link fence.

Endless options.

Buy some used, cheap, junked HO train cars, like box cars and gondolas. Lots of little parts, and the bodies can be cut into cool real metal looking sections.

Good rust colored paint, and imagination, and you should have a pile of debris.

Smokey, WOW! Some excellent ideas!!! I also stumbled upon several vids on YouTube about making corrugated sheet metal from either thin metal of stiff paper/cardboard from a general hobby/craft store. So your suggestions, plus the beads for tires and all I should be able to come up with the perfect Stronghold.

Gentlemen, my very sincere thanks all!

I'm tellin' ya, go on eBay and look at the HO stuff. I get most of my buildings for about $7 USD-$10 +shipping.

I'm so happy, I found HO scale typewriters and safes the other day!
