Morning! My first day as a supporting member so thought I'd post something!

A few pics of some units I've finished off this week.

Some British marines in a mix of blue coat, khaki and shirts. Peter pig figures converted. Mainly SCW figures with trimmed caps and some head swaps.

picture

The Americans are coming! Some US marines. Old glory figs. Haven't used marine flags as will be using for us army in us-Spanish war as well. So a generic 45 star flag used

picture

And some US army in Khaki.

picture

Finally some reinforcements for the opposition! Some Imperial infantry with Jingals. Irregular models on the left and Khurasan Manchu on the right.

Very nice!

Love the jingals

They look great! Thank you for sharing.

DinOfBattle203 May 2017 7:03 a.m. PST

I keep forgetting to pick up some Jingals from Khurasan.

You'd probably remember more easily if they were better promoted with say… a catchy jingal jingle. Any suggestions?

Two thumbs up! Great painting and basing.

Hmm, in a recent thread Russ from OldGlory 25s seemed to suggest that something in this vein might be arriving around Historicon 2017 – in 15/18 mm so from Blue Moon I'm guessing. And in older posts on the subject from him it sounded like there'd be buildings, too. Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm really curious to see what comes out.

I have a bunch of Boxer figures, Old Glory 15s, Lancashire, Cell Mate Miniatures, and Irregular for the period but if Blue Moon is doing it, this may be my first wholesale figure replacement for a period (might keep some of what I already have). I'm really hoping they do plenty of civilians for both sides, especially unarmed. And, of course, hoping for the key figures from a certain well known movie!

Have no idea if they'll do any sort of train but that would be really cool.

Guess we all just wait and see. Not that far out now. Definitely salivating over this possibility.

Also wondering what other periods they might either add to or have as new entirely. Their recent ECW will offer some nice additions to my Musketeers set up.

Yep. Hope they bring some out. Some more variety of figures would be great. Some of the ranges available have disappeared and some are not great in design. I can see it being expensive for me if it really happens!

Its funny. Irregular figs in 15mm dont look good to me unpainted. I know not why, I just hate them. But when I paint them, they come alive with character, and I ain't a great painter.

badwargamer09 May 2017 2:05 p.m. PST

I agree about Irregular. They always look better painted up and in the flesh. They are in the middle of the range of figures available as far as detail and design goes. Not the best but perfectly serviceable. Some are very good. The service is always good from them and the ability to order individual figures is actually very useful!

Lancashire are absolutely huge, right? I think I have some somewhere, and remember they were like 1/72 scale giants.

Early morning writer09 May 2017 10:36 p.m. PST

Lancashire are large but I'd have no problem mixing them with Old Glory 15's Boxer figures. The bigger challenge with Lancashire figures is they are in very static poses. However, I expect – like Irregular – once painted they'll perform just fine on the table. And, until someone releases competitors (are you listening Russ of Old Glory 25s?), they are the sole source for 15 mm unarmed civilians specific to the period I'm aware of – for both Chinese and Europeans.

And I don't recall them reaching as high in a side by side comparison with some 1/72nd plastic figures I have (or had). Big, sure, but not that big! I'd say 18 mm figures are closer to 1:100 or maybe 1:96 for the very biggest – that's a far piece from 1:72. Remember, "traditional" or "true" 15 mm figures were/are in the 1:120 range.

Now, if that doesn't get you excited about a possible Boxer release (that is what the quote was about), you must be really hard to get excited.

I have quite a few Boxer figures in 15 mm, mostly Old Glory 15s and some Irregular (especially their triggermen) and a smattering of the old Cell Mate range – which are decidedly smaller and thinner figures but the sole (currently) source for Red Lantern figures (the female fighting Boxers for those unfamiliar).

The big question is, does Blue Moon/Old Glory25 15/18 mm Boxer see the light of day and do I replace my collection with the new figures? Probably a bunch of them get "replaced" but I doubt I'll toss the lot of what's already owned. Going to need A LOT of Chinese, both militant and poor, innocent civilians.

Based on Russ's quote above, I'm putting my money on a bright light shining soon. I just hope they took my advice in an old thread Russ started where I suggested a sub-range for the Sand Pebbles!

Hey, wait a minute, I better not be gambling with that money, I need to be saving it – just in case.

badwargamer12 May 2017 1:04 a.m. PST

I'm hoping that the much fabled blue moon boxer range does come out. I wouldn't replace any troops but would look at adding an additional imperial army and hopefully loads of cool stuff like tigermen and whatever else they bring out!

The wait is almost over – the first official word from Blue Moon is out, the fable turns out to be truth:
