Please tell me those figures are all for 15mm! Dan |
Hafen von Schlockenberg | 22 May 2017 10:48 a.m. PST |
These look like the promised 18mm Boxer Rebellion line,so I'd guess yeah. |
DWilliams | 22 May 2017 10:49 a.m. PST |
Yes, these are from the 15/18mm Blue Moon series. Looks like this will be the first release from the Boxer Rebellion range. I'm especially enthused to see Russ going back to releasing 30 different poses in a single, 30-figure pack! We have not seen this concept since the early phases of the Blue Moon ACW range. |

And this is OG's third go 'round with Boxers, so they should be right. |

There are very few packs where you can actually make 30 varients. Making too many varients for many of the packs would actually be counter productive. There are several factors that go into the decision as to the amounts of varients on any given pack-- regular or irregular troop , the gauls have 30 varients, the Romans do not. The Gauls have various clothing/equipment and all run about in various poses -- the Romans actually all do look the same as they stand in rigid formation as I think that is what the average gamer wants to represent. Also,The amount of figures that may be required by the gamer per any given pack? It is a cost and time factor. Regards Russ Dunaway |

The Boxer Rebellion is one of those periods that if you collect the various armies you have troops to fight in several other campaigns – Sino-Japanese War (the first one), Russo-Japanese War, Chinese internal troubles, U.S. troops for wars against Spain and in the Philippines (supply your own Spanish or Filipinos), British for the Northwest Frontier or South Africa, French for Indo-China, Germans for Africa, Italians for the Abyssinian War, etc. |

Ah, the cat is now out of the proverbial bag. I predict boxes of boxers shall be flying around the planet soon. Oh, the lamentations of those who erred in premature expenditures on the period! (okay, maybe not – but, then again, maybe). Those buildings look very cool – do I even see sandbags on one of the roofs!? Oh, be still my vibrating credit card. |

I hope the Russians have their bayonets fixed. In this time period they didn't even have scabbards for them. |
Cacique Caribe | 22 May 2017 8:44 p.m. PST |
I would love some civilians too!!! Dan |

Patience, young Grass Hop-aribe. Waiting is until waiting is fulfilled. Now, hurry on Historicon and get here so we can see what else they're going to release. Hey, Russ, and company, any chance of a full range listing any time soon? Might silence some of the noise – or heighten the clamor. |

Here is a question about the Red Lanterns. Do you what them to be historical or what they have morphed into via films and mythology? There is a big difference. Personally, I think that any game dealing with the Boxer Rebellion should have a special rule for Red Lanterns. Basically the legation player can put a nun figure into the battle waving something dirty at the boxers, and they can not attack again until they have a Red lantern present. If the boxers lose the next battle that includes the Red Lantern, they kill the Red Lantern and have to wait before attacking again until another Red Lantern appears. Remember, to the boxers, failure is always the fault the the Red Lantern. |

Blue Moon/Old Glory/Russ and the gang absolutely rock! |
Early morning writer | 23 May 2017 9:06 p.m. PST |
I'd prefer the historical over the 'morphed'. While I expect a lot of this release of figures to be useful in many ways beyond the Boxer Rebellion, your mainstay customers for this will be historical gamers. We can always adjust later. However, I, as others, also enjoy the Hollywood element as well. And still hoping for the 'sidebar' release of figures for The Sand Pebbles. |
rvandusen | 24 May 2017 1:44 a.m. PST |
And another thing, the Boxers and legation buildings look useful for pulp games. The Boxers could represent Tongs or river pirates, etc. A few Chinese could end up in an Old West scenario. |
deflatermouse | 24 May 2017 3:13 a.m. PST |
Oh thank you for these. My Victorian London gangs are going to be getting some muscle. As will the besiegers of Peking.. :) |
Early morning writer | 24 May 2017 5:40 a.m. PST |
Back to the "Lanterns" – I'd say the most useful Red Lanterns will be those engaged in nursing style activities – and there can be the older and old versions as well (Blue Lanterns, Black Lanterns) but only a sprinkling. But need some to be in fighting trim. |
badwargamer | 26 May 2017 2:09 a.m. PST |
Finally able to comment! Thanks for the teaser. I'm looking forward to seeing what gets released. |

Don't overlook the use of that terrain for the Sino-Japanese wars, either. |

Here is a question about the Red Lanterns. Do you what them to be historical or what they have morphed into via films and mythology? There is a big difference. If there's a difference in appearance, I'd actually like both (which may mean two different packs). |

Show us more, please. Pretty please. We know there is more. Come on, now. Let's have a look. And, yes, I've seen the other two posts showing more. I mean more than that. Still waiting for the 'comprehensive list' to become public so I can start planning my purchases – and my carefully constructed explanations to the wife of why the planet will crack if I don't get these! |
Early morning writer | 28 Jun 2017 8:11 p.m. PST |
Okay, while not the only stalwart supporter of this range, I'm pretty sure I'm near the head of the pack. So, today, I thought, as much as I – and many of you – want to see the codes sooner than later, all OG has said is "release for Historicon". That is open to interpretation of course so it might be the full range or might just be what is ready by then. Personally, as anxious as I am to see the full range, I'd rather they take the time to get the models and molds done right, so I'll wait. But I'm still going to be a bit impatient. Sound of foot tapping on floor, tapping getting a bit faster, then a bit louder, then a…. : ) |
