I wonder if they will include the Squats in this – given how in the fluff they are not killed off until the tyrannid invasion in the 40k universe. It's well known they fought for both sides. Perhaps if they move away from the old biker look, but keep then suitably and subtly different to the Imperial Army. Or, is it more likely they'll not get mentioned at all in any of the Heresy books? |

High grav worlders have been a trope in sci-fi and doing them as dwarves fitted with 40K – can't say I liked the biker gang in space-thing, but I thought the Dark Age Scandinavians in space-thing had some legs. Squats also provided a bit of relief from the whole technology as mysticism meme. Though the exo-suit and a lot of the Epic sculpts really didn't do them any favours…
Basically Insomniacs long running project of complete of genius is more or less where I'd take them…

Dream on. The powers that be at GWS hate Dwarves in space. Who knows, the new regime may disagree. They HAVE been listening to the old-schoolers lately. And they weren't ALL bikery-looking. I get tired of hearing that. Though the exo-suit and a lot of the Epic sculpts really didn't do them any favours… I came to dislike my exo's as well. And everyone kept calling them "eggs with legs", and suggesting I paint them in pastel colors and calling them slaaneshi… |

I'd say "no, they'd never do that" but with all the stuff going on recently, who knows? They just might. I think by and large the squats were just ret-conned out entirely. The Eaten by Tyranids line was created when they re-released the Inquisition War trilogy of novels. |

The not-squats were decimated, they are not wiped out entirely. So, there is a back door to bringing them back in some form or other. |

And they weren't ALL bikery-looking. I get tired of hearing that. It was just the Guild, though they had some importance fluff-wise, and there was the whole nomadic existence justification for the bikes, but why the hell a bunch of supposedly really skilled engineers mount heavy weapons on trikes and go into battle riding bikes? They did also stick exo-suits on bikes for Epic… The powers at be in GW may not like Squats, but they probably like money enough to swallow their dislike! I suspect they'd sell a respectable amount if they released (re-released) them. |
