I will shortly be launching a kickstarter for SYW plastic infantry.
To this end I have commissioned the brilliant designer Matt Bickley to start work on the first 3 up which should be ready sometime next month.
Matt has done many plastic kits for numerous companies in the past and has a great working relationship with Renedra who will be producing the Kit.

Initial thoughts are for a box set of around 36 figures but this will depend on how much can fit onto the sprue.
The figures will be march attack with two or three different poses of fixed arms holding the musket and three loose arms to add variety to the poses.
There will also be various loose heads and items of extra kit such as bags, boots and maybe the odd chicken to add more variety for those who like a bit of variety.

My initial thought was for French which could be used for FIW as well as the European theatre but this can be changed as I am hoping that anybody interested will get in touch at nicholas.wragg@tesco.net to let me know which army they would prefer first so I can bring out the most popular first.
I will post pictures of the 3 ups as they are ready.

Cheers Nick eborminiatures.com

Good luck with your venture.

Renaud S21 Feb 2017 1:38 p.m. PST

Good project. I'll happily buy French with turnbacks with 3 march attack poses, and then British/ Hannoveraners, and then Prussians.

Ed von HesseFedora21 Feb 2017 1:39 p.m. PST

Good luck.

Have you seen the other two threads by someone else on the topic of plastic SYW?

Yes unfortunate timing but Matt agreed last August to do these figures but I had to wait until now for him to start, world class designers don't start projects the day after you contact them.

Ed von HesseFedora21 Feb 2017 1:56 p.m. PST

Sure, but I thought the discussion might be informative for you.

French are a good idea, although Prussians would be even better, particularly if you are able to include Grenadier and Fusilier mitres in the same box. With which existing ranges would be compatible?

Extrabio1947 Supporting Member of TMP21 Feb 2017 2:34 p.m. PST

As much as I would like to see the French out first, the Prussians are probably the best initial release for the reason basileus66 states above. Plus, Prussia and Frederick the Great are the icons of the SYW to most folks.

Wargamer Dave21 Feb 2017 2:38 p.m. PST

Ooh very exciting. Nothing done in SYW and suddenly two in the works!

That said, given how dreadful the reaction to the Warlord WSS and your excellent existing range in metal why aren't you doing plastic WSS? Or Great Northern War?

Costanzo121 Feb 2017 4:00 p.m. PST

A lot of firms do the French. Much better should be the Austrians.

daler240D21 Feb 2017 6:14 p.m. PST

Very good news indeed!

rxpjks121 Feb 2017 7:19 p.m. PST

Fantastic idea. French, Prussian or British.

Bandolier21 Feb 2017 8:23 p.m. PST

Whoever does Austrians first gets my money.

…so many people do infantry and then never get round to cavalry.

Duc de Brouilly22 Feb 2017 3:55 a.m. PST

Great idea and the heads, bags etc. (not to mention the chicken!) would be invaluable for conversions. For my own interests, French would be the first choice, followed by British.

TheGiantTribble22 Feb 2017 8:31 a.m. PST

Austrians get my vote. And please don't forget cav and art.

Travellera22 Feb 2017 11:36 a.m. PST

SYW Swedes!!! Please…

daler240D22 Feb 2017 5:09 p.m. PST

Austrians for me as well.

Costanzo123 Feb 2017 10:49 a.m. PST

Syw lacks a modern range of figures, with variants and complete. I think it is the period with the greatest potential. One limit can be your a bit slow production. I know the area because I designed three ranges of other historical periods.

Nick,

Will you be posting to your regular company site about the Kickstarter? When do you expect to start it?

18th Century Guy Supporting Member of TMP13 Jun 2018 7:21 a.m. PST

Just got an email from Kickstarter that this did not reach its funding goal and will not move forward.

This sucks because I was really looking forward to it.
