Lovely stuff! I have bought a few 15mm tanks second hand and intend to kick off a GuP project in the new year. Expect lots of questions. |

I did not know they added that school. If I ever get the urge to paint French again… Wyatt |

I just finished painting ten vehicles for Viking Fisheries and five for the University Selection team. Currently on the table I have five for Bonple and five for Koala, having just gotten in a pair of AC1 Sentinels. Maginot will be up next. |
miniMo | 08 Dec 2016 9:26 a.m. PST |
@Wyatt, Maginot was background info in the anime series, they were in the big tournament but never on screen. But then got to feature in their own spin-off manga fighting a training match against Ooarai. Another French team features prominently in the Ribbon Warrior spin-off manga — BC Freedom. Combined schools sharing an aircraft carrier and fighting together, but they don't get along very well — Vichy & Free French! @Tachikoma, Eureka Sentinels or did you print your own? My Koala team is all assembled, but waiting in the painting queue. I want to finish painting Black Forest and St. Glo's first. I have a busy winter-spring convention season starting with Arisia in Boston 13-16 January, so I want to have the Division One schools ready first ^,^ My Shapeways order from Cyber Monday is already en route; your Nbvz.VI will complete my Viking roster, and the Verdeja I will complete Blue Division. |
Tachikoma | 08 Dec 2016 9:50 a.m. PST |
The Sentinels are mine. I modeled the Verdeja specifically to use for Blue Division but haven't started working on them yet. You'll have to post pictures of the team when you get them done. I forgot to mention above that I've also got a University T28 on the table. I went to see Der Film in the theater a couple weeks ago and it really got me pumped to work on the project again. |

Yup, will definitely post pics when done! |

Minimo – I had to look it up. I've not been able to get my hands on the books. I created some of the artwork for Company B – specifically Ooarai's insignia and a couple of others. I've got models for Ooarai and St. Glo's but I've not really had the chance to run them (was thinking bastardized FoW). Wyatt |

The Maginot and Ribbon Warrior manga haven't been published in English yet. There are translations online. And I've been buying the Japanese ones from CDJapan (though so far my knowledge of Japanese is only up to reading the SFX sounds). Take a look at the Senshado rules that Twig66 developed, these really capture the flavour of the show very nicely: Rules: link Stats: link Tankathlon Variant: link We've been kibbitzing on these over in the long-running Pravda thread: TMP link 4 posts down on page 2, I've put up links to Japanese background reference material. The rosters are relatively easy to work out. Sometimes I've had to use advanced google-fu to cross check tank names with Japanese model kit names to confirm details. |

Shapeways order just arrived, and everything looks great. The NbFz.VI and the Verdeja I are the best reasons to do up Viking Fisheries and Blue Division! Picked up one each of the Stridsvagn m/40L and m/42 for Viggen to make some cameo appearances. The spokes on the road wheels are stunning detail. Got the tail-less Type 89B, so Duck team can join Tankathlon. The deeper post ring on the new turret design is a definite improvement. Tachikoma, you could even make all the post rings much deeper still so they stay solidly seated during game play and not risk bouncing away under handling. Since I'll be running convention games and like to bullet-proof everything as much as possible, I'll extend all of them with plastic tubing. |
Tachikoma | 09 Dec 2016 1:00 p.m. PST |
I'll keep the deeper post ring in mind as I make new models. I'm glad you like the models. Something to keep in mind for Viggen is that the Strv m/41 is a license build copy of the Czech THK, which means that it is basically a Panzer 38(t) with a Bofors 37mm gun. I've got five of the Zvezda 38(t) kits earmarked for my Viggen team. The rest will be 3D prints of the m/42, m/40L and SAV 43. |
miniMo | 09 Dec 2016 1:50 p.m. PST |
Ooh, good to know on the 38(t)'s. Hmm, I could easily bring Viggen up to a 5-tank roster… |

Gah! And the SAV m/43 is another cute Hetzer <3 I may have to revisit your shop at another Shapeways sale. Grr. According to the Tanks Encyclopedia, it has a short barrel gun to be in compliance with Swedish traffic law! |
Thomas Nissvik | 12 Dec 2016 6:09 a.m. PST |
A bunch of pictures of tanks in Swedish service here link Jocke is a gaming buddy of mine and we will be going back to Arsenalen again so any special requests for pics of Swedish tanks, let me know. |

Wow, those are great Thomas! The colour pix are very helpful for painting. For the next trip, if you could get specific top views from the high angle, that would be super. Profile shots that cover left and front, and right and back (or vice-versa) would be super helps for painting. You've probably already got a a bunch of that covered, I'll dpend some time later pouring over them. The specific tanks for this project are: Strv m/40L Strv m/41 Strv m/42 SAV m/43 |
The Miniatures Man | 13 Dec 2016 4:33 a.m. PST |
Thomas, you will note all requests and I guess we will take photos like hell :-) I'm really keen on another trip to Arsenalen. Great museum. |

And if you get to the Vasa Museum, the Director of Research there is an old college friend. Tell Fred, Maureen says Hi! |
miniMo | 16 Dec 2016 2:11 p.m. PST |
And another Gah! Also in Ribbon Warrior, Black Forest fields a team of 12 Panzer II Ausf.F's against Bonple. I have assembled and sprayed the base coat on a dozen Zvezda early model Pz.II C's. (I'll take plastic models over metals even if the make is a bit off.) And just now figured out that I could flatten a #6 split lock washer to make the perfect turret-hatch ring to convert them to F's. At least I hadn't gone on to any detail painting/dealling yet. I foresee a trip to Lowes in the very near future… |

Tachikoma, Thomas, anyone? What's the penetration like on the SAV m/43's 105? The only info my google-fu has turned up is the cryptic World of Tanks statline: 10,5 cm kan m/44 sav Penetration 65/110/53 Or any WOTers able to translate? |
Tachikoma | 31 Dec 2016 8:35 a.m. PST |
Since its an infantry support gun, finding penetration numbers can be difficult. I haven't found anything specific on the 105, but it appears the 75 version (7,5 cm m/02) has about 40mm penetration at short range, making it equivalent to the 75L24 mounted on the Anglerfish Mk IV in the early episodes. Given that, I would give the 105 version a Heavy gun with fairly short range (6" or 8"). |
miniMo | 31 Dec 2016 9:06 a.m. PST |
Some time after posting this, I posed the question in a new thread which would surface on the front page and got some good answers and links: TMP link The short 105 does have an AP round and looks to be a penetration of 65-66mm at 500 yards. So that would indeed be a Heavy Gun with 6" short range. And Sneaky ^,^ For general Swedish tank info, this blog linked in the other thread is outstanding: ointres.se/pansar.htm Sweden only built 36 of the SAV, but since Hetzer conversion kits are tournament-legal, I'll go for a pair of the cute SAV. Just put in my Shapeways order with their 20% end-of-the-year sale. Also for the license built Strv m/41, I have discovered that you can sacrifice the treads from one Zvezda 38(t) and get 4 pairs of spare roadwheels to glue onto the back decks for proper Viggen styling. Also provides sections of spare treads for hull decorations and disabled markers. And having used one 38(t) for parts means I have an extra turret to send into the operating lab to work on opening up the hatch. If the operation gets botched, I won't have lost a needed turret. |
