This duplication of posts will be frustrating to some but not even noticed by others. It is noted that although both posts have the giveaway words Perry / French / Dragoons they were posted on the Napoleonic Product Review board, and the Napoleonic Discussion board, respectively, and neither was crossed referenced. Therefore, any check of the respective lists would not show a similar post. Perhaps on the new version of TMP a better indexing system could be employed that starts to iron out such duplications so that helpful posters are aware if something has already been contributed, particularly within the previous couple of days. All said and done, both postings do show the helpful contribution of two TMPers willing to share something they think will be of interest to others on TMP. That is to be applauded and long may it continue. |

The thing is that I got grief for overdoing the crossposting (and not unreasonably). One time I would have put onto Discussion (as more likely to be noticed)as well as New Product Reviews. Thing is, there may not be much to "discuss" about them. Strictly of course, I cannot even "review" something I have never actually handled! You are right and I personally feel it is no harm, just that the earlier posting did attract some very useful information, lost to a reader here TMP link Half the fun is occasionally beating Tango1 to something (grin) |

VW is right, of course. After all, postings referring to new products should be posted on the Product Review board, it's only logical. Looks to me as if someone had noticed that the announcement had been made there already and thus posted it again where it doesn't belong. Well, we all know: egomania is hard to come to grips with, isn't it? . Next thing to come is affected unawareness… Amicalement,…;-) |

Cheers Armand – good find. Once again I had not seen the original post. Why does that bother some people? Sigh… |

My privates are no laughing matter, (ask Mrs Deadhead). Tango1 (do you know I never noticed the 0? he is 01Tango!….no he is Tnago0!….oh heck….we have had an excellent family night over the dinner table for three hours. Some folk still do this. (As I type this I can hear my wife and the two 21 year old lads debating how we deal with Putin…… after three bottles of wine) Where would we be without Tango01? He finds stuff we would never see, he adds so much to this forum. I do understand that some of our most expert contributors can get annoyed. But heck, we need them too (even more actually). This forum lost some superb input over the years……..let's play nicely now. There is room for us all…….. How good is that trumpeter then? (grin) |

Judging by the proportions these figures depict dragoon re-enactors, right? |

Frankly, the sculpting isn't to my taste either. Second, I would have preferred standing and walking horses. One or two troopers with (hooded) arab style overcoats would have been welcome, too. Third, it would have been nice to get plastic figures. More options for conversions… |

Standing horses are indeed a rarity. the suggestion seems to be that wargamers want "heroic" poses and mad charges. Exceptions in the Perry range are the French line light cavalry horses (chasseurs a Chev) and the cuirassiers' mounts standing. Must agree that they are a little short in the torso for their head size and leg length. But they are not the BMI levels enjoyed by many a Front Rank figure…….. Perry Dragoons of the Guard I thought really needed a little revision when I first saw them. Helmet sizes here are better…. |
