So, the wifey gave me a $50 USD Lowes card she got from her co-workers and said "have at it"

What would terrain makers do with a $50 USD Lowes card??

Mako1128 Sep 2016 9:59 a.m. PST

Order a few sheets of blue or pink foam.

Waco Joe28 Sep 2016 10:11 a.m. PST

Spackle, glues of various sort, mix up a quart or two of paint in terrain colors, foam, balsa, dowels, wire, dremel attachments, xacto blades just off the top of my head.

I said $50 USD not $500 USD there Waco ;p

I've got to narrow my list down.

Durhams wood putty for bases
some spray paints (greens mainly)
glues

Interesting….what are you using the balsa for?

Waco Joe28 Sep 2016 10:20 a.m. PST

I use balsa for making movement trays and terrain bases. Although my Lowes is rather spotty on having any thin sheets in.

Of course you could use the $50 USD the way my wife uses Kohl's coupons. "Look! I saved $165 USD!"

I agree about the big pink or blue foam boards.

Also look at the Eco Rug in the flooring department. $20 USD green 8' x 6' mat that needs to be painted a bit. I got one recently after a series of posts here. I think this is the first one: TMP link

I thought about using the blue foam for my table, but I didn't want to hassle with cutting it and dealing with the mess.

I'd only use it underneath my table sheet to represent hills and I already have that covered. Tempted, but passed on that technique.

Maybe put it towards a few nice folding tables, or maybe some better lighting for my gaming space.

Get some of the Eco carpet to use as gaming mats/roads/etc:

I bought a new Sander to speed up production with 1 and a sale.

A table or a couple of foam insulation batts and a quart of paint.

acctingman186928 Sep 2016 12:32 p.m. PST

Just got back!

Those green mats, I have to admit, are pretty damn slick, but I already have my table set up :)

Bought some durhams, super glue, 3M spray adhesive, couple rattle cans of green paint….and a new furnace filter (gotta keep the wife happy)

Better lighting – get the cheap 4" flourescent fixtures (they'll try to sell you LEDs, don't get them yet), and spend the rest on good bulbs. You could probably get two two-bulb fixtures and a dozen good bulbs for that.

Or – pink foam, blue foam, and a sheet of thin MDF – have them cut the last for you.

Spray paints for priming and base coating.

Vigilant29 Sep 2016 3:13 a.m. PST

Absolutely nothing, we don't have them in the UK.:)

capncarp29 Sep 2016 10:06 a.m. PST

If I already had a Dremel tool, I'd go looking at one of their huge sets of accessories. Spackle and wood putty, and raid their cast-off table for suitable mixed latex paints that had been rejected/mis-mixed and thereby discounted--you never know when you'll luck into a good base color.

Apache 629 Sep 2016 4:40 p.m. PST

The local Lowes often has "oops" paints, in tan and brown colors, a gallon for $8 USD +/-. I've used it for terrain basing and other things.

Expandable spray foam has a lot of uses.

snurl129 Sep 2016 11:04 p.m. PST

Spend it on some shelving.

Mattw338530 Sep 2016 8:35 p.m. PST

Plywood, epoxy glue, electric boxes, pvc fittings, paint, green scouring pads.
