Appears that a water break has caused the entire site to be closed. Video showing water dripping from the ceilings. link I think this might be 'the end' for the place. Louis J. Desy Jr.

Details from the article on the closing: "A water main break forced the evacuation of about 2,000 people and resulted in the closing of Lancaster Host Resort and Conference Center on Saturday night. Rescue crews were called to the hotel at 2300 Lincoln Highway East around 6:30 p.m. because water was pouring through a ceiling in one of the conference areas." "Lafayette fire Chief Scott Hershey said the break occurred in the drop ceiling of the top floor, dumping water and collapsing ceilings on three levels." "Hershey said a township official condemned the facility until utilities can be assessed for damage. He said a restoration company was already at work Saturday night." So it looks like it MIGHT be possible for the place to reopen, if they can clean it up and repair the damage. "A sign posted on the front door of the hotel Sunday night stated the building was unfit for human occupancy and that only employees and restoration personnel would be permitted inside." Louis J. Desy Jr.

Call to Lancaster Host says expected to open June 17. I just called the Host directly. ( Phone: 1-717-299-5500 | Toll Free: 1-800-233-0121 ) At the moment, they are "closed for repairs" but are 'scheduled' to reopen on June 17, at the moment. Louis J. Desy Jr. |

I just noticed a duplicate thread. If possible, can the admin move my posting over to that thread? Louis J. Desy Jr. |

No. No need. You are like the guy that follows the town crier four hours later. Nothing new here. Go join the other thread and see if your late to the party comments add to the collective understanding. Other than the attempt direct contact, and the contents of their message, that could be added. |

He did follow up with the call to the host, which I had not seen before. Just got an email from HMGS (I think) and the Host tells them that the Host will be back up and running by the 6th. |

So much hype over the word "condemned." It simply means the health dept declared the building uninhabitable until the leaks and resultant damage were repaired. A water pipe in my house broke about 8 years ago with the same result: the ceilings collapsed on several floors and the house was "condemned." The insurance company had the damage repaired in a couple days and you would never know it afterward. Yes, the Host is in need of a major refurbishment, but this means the some of the work will happen sooner than planned and the insurance company will help foot the bill. It will be open again in a week or 2. |

Clearly the theme for Fall In 2016 should be "Amphibious Warfare Through The Ages". |

I do recall many moons ago at one Historicon that the air conditioning had a leak in Lampeter. Some saturated ceiling tile pieces landed on one of the tables. The two guys who were playing DBM on the table next to it never even noticed. |

Temporary condemning of a hazard site is common and happens all of the time. The facility will be un-condemned as soon as the repairs are made and inspected. I used to function as a member of the local county Emergency Management agency. We would go to a site and condemn a house or business for a number of reasons. In one case a popular Catfish restaurant had part of its roof blown off and some interior damage. We condemned the site until the repairs could be made and the health department re-inspected the site. This despite heavy political pressure to let them re-open. |

Well nearly a month later and the Host has still not re-opened for business. So much for repairs taking only a week or two. |

This information is incorrect. Host is open for business and accepting guests, Hotel has passed inspection and is now operational. Thanks for playing… TRU |
