I stopped by University Hardware in Berkeley, CA, tonight after some recommendations here:

A great find for 20 mm gamers. Unfortunately, after 50+ years at their present location, they are losing their lease. They are moving a few blocks, but the new hobby department will be 1/4th the present size. They are having a 50% off marked price sale on almost all plastic model kits. Some of the kits were already marked 50% off. I bought 6 Soviet helicopter kits for less than the original price of 1 of them.

The guy at the model railroad counter was practically in tears telling me about it. He has worked there for decades and won't have a job after the move.

A real shame the guy will be losing his job.

Perhaps more fallout from general trends in retail and the country.

I remember shopping there decades ago, and picked up a few things back then.
