whoop! whoop! Airfix Battles just dropped onto my mat. Well pleased as I thought this wasn't due until May / June time.

Contents look good, well made.

Watch this space for battle reports!

Mine was waiting for me when I came home from work! It's great when a wargames company delivers ahead of schedule for a change…

I assume we will get our bonus British cards etc after 1st May?

Hi,

Here is my setup for the introductory scenario.

link

The figures are a mix of Airfix, Italeri and Revell. There are three units per side, a Captain with four smg armed veterans and two units of nine riflemen, an lmg gunner and two bazooka / panzerfaust (strangely I have no panzerfaust models – so have used panzerschreck for the moment).

They are mounted on UK pennies, but only just fit into the map squares.

I only have one forward command post, this is too big to fit in a square and I've used the supplied markers for the other three buildings.

I like the layout of the final rules (I did help with play testing early on).

All the counters (you don't have to use any models at all) are well made as are the cards and the use of the old Airfix artwork is a pleasure too.

I'll post more as an AAR.

Furgie.

Well, I've just received an e-mail saying we will get our British bonus cards next week. Excellent!

What I'd really love to see would be a card for a Jagdpanther – but sadly Airfix never made a model of one (as far as I know), so we're unlikely to see a card for them…

Looking forward to getting my set in the mail here shortly (in the US). Anticipating ordering the tabletop (free-form) version too, that's coming out this summer.

Furgie,

I think the idea is that they will make cards for tanks and troop types that weren't/aren't made by Airfix too. For example, the British Bonus pack should have a card for the Sherman Firefly which as far as I know Airfix never made (although Matchbox did).

Well, it would be super if they supplied a Jagdpanther card at some stage – Perhaps as part of a Market Garden or bulge campaign.

Hi, I've played three scenarios over the last couple of days.

The game plays fast. Most games finished in an hour.

The use of command cards makes for a challenge in some rounds if you don't get the cards you need. On the other hand, if you get the right cards, attacks can be well planned and executed.

Assaults can brutal especially if you get the right cards to play a co-ordinated attack.

The only downside is that once you have a few units on the board, it get a bit crowded for 1:72 minis – see the pic below of my setup for scenario three.

All in all, it's fun, it's fast and I can't recommend it enough.

Are my eyes playing up or are there a fair few ESCI interlopers on those photos? I was trying to think when Airfix made panzerfausts at first, but they didn't even make US Infantry in 1/72 for WW2 did they?

Indeed, the Americans are all Italeri I think, the Germans are a mix of Airfix, Italeri, Armourfast and Revell. I have no models holding panzerfausts (go figure – a couple of hundred German figures and none with a panzerfaust…!) – so have used models with panzerschrecks for now.

The tanks are Armourfast and Italeri.

As far as I know, Airfix didn't make American infantry.

US marines and paratroops iirc

And American infantry in 1/32 I recall

My Airfix US Infantry were all US Marines, painted as infantry. I've still go them.

I just received my pre-order game box today in California. I am very pleased with the contents. Now to find an opponent!
