In this episode from the original Star Trek series, a con man named Harcourt Fenton Mudd is engaged in providing wives to planets where women are scarce. Which of 'Mudd's Women' was most attractive at her best? Eve McHuron (played by Karen Steele) link Magda Kovacs (Susan Denberg) link Ruth Bonaventure (Maggie Thrett) link |

Maggie Thrett was a singer and dancer as well as an actress. Had a minor US music hit in 1965 with "Soupy". She was around age 20 in that episode. |

Of the three, would have to go with Magda, assuming I can't afford all three. Are multiple wives legal in the more enlightened, Trek future? Of course, the one I was really smitten with was that cute little blonde yeoman Kirk had on the side. |

There are a lot of very attractive ladies in classic Star Trek My personal favourite was Louise Sorrel (Rayna Kapec)

I really don't know what ths type of post has to do with the Miniatures Page and I wish Bill would stop doing this. It looks like the beta version of TMP 4.0 needs more work. The "tango01" persona has cross-contaminated the "bill" persona resulting in spurious posts. |

this is why all media boards should go to the plus side. |

This is certainly the minus side. |

Disagree on moving the media to the plus side. It's where all the discussion of historical books lands too since the books boards were combined with media. |

What can I say!
One thing about Star Trek the original series was the number of attractive and talented actresses they used! |

Good Grief! When one of US posts such a thread, it's cool. When The Dear Leader succumbs to a moment of weakness and does the same, our collective noses go 45 degrees up and the holier-than-thou tone sounds waaaayy out of place. So, I guess I'll be the only one to humor Bill today and plainly answer, "Karen Steele"--an accomplished actress who appeared in credible films (such as "Marty") and worked regularly for long while. It didn't hurt that she was very good looking, in the late 50's to 60's mold. TVAG |

As has been said before, its Bill's website and he can use it as he sees fit, we are guests, and I for one try to act that way! Magda, without a doubt! Always had a thing for Susan Denberg. She was in Playboy once, not as a centerfold. I can still remember the picture! Good thing Bill limited the question. There were some beautiful women on that series. |

Good Grief! When one of US posts such a thread, it's cool. When The Dear Leader succumbs to a moment of weakness and does the same, our collective noses go 45 degrees up and the holier-than-thou tone sounds waaaayy out of place. Yes, I've noticed it, too. It does seem odd how this topic and the removed topic "Pike's Women" are criticized so much, but the topic "Ginger or Mary Ann" gets no criticism at all. The theme is identical for all three topics: "Which would you choose?" The only real difference is who started each topic. Edited: Actually, the current topic changes the question to simply ask which character was the most attractive. That would seem to tone it down quite a bit compared to the other two topics. |
Winston Smith | 03 Apr 2016 2:31 p.m. PST |
The difference is that "Ginger or Maryann" is about who is more attractive. You know. Potential Girlfriend material. I choose Bailey, by the way. This and "Pike's Women" are about choosing sex slaves. I hope we can see a difference. |

Since when are wives deemed to be sex slaves? My, there are a lot of really uptight people here today. |
Ooh Rah | 03 Apr 2016 3:56 p.m. PST |
I guess we will have to disagree about "Mudd's Women." From your post (italics added): The difference is that "Ginger or Maryann" is about who is more attractive. From the OP (italics added): Which of 'Mudd's Women' was most attractive at her best? If I recall the episode, Mudd's women chose to marry the miners of their own free will. No sex slaves. You may be right about "Pike's Women." In the Lounge, Zippyfusenet posted a very thoughtful comment explaining his opposition to that topic. I respect his opinion and how well he expressed it. That topic is deleted now, so I can't go back and read it again to see if sex slavery was being pushed or condoned. I don't recall. To me, the "Pike's Women" and "Mudd's Women" topics are re-hashing the "Ginger or Mary Ann" topic. That's why I find it interesting that reactions to these topics are so different. |

In his prime, George Takei was, pound-for-pound, much cuter than any TOS Starlet of the Week. And, he could fence!

Always had a thing for Susan Denberg. She was in Playboy once, not as a centerfold. I can still remember the picture! Her career was sadly limited by her heavy Austrian accent. Her voice was sometimes dubbed (but not in Mudd's Women!). She appeared in Hammer Films' Frankenstein Created Woman (1967). Can you believe she is 71 now? |

As for Karen Steele, she was an experienced movie and TV actress (and about a decade older than the other actresses in this poll). She was on just about all the major TV series at one time or another. Sadly, she died young (56) from cancer. |

Always had a thing for Susan Denberg. She was in Playboy once, not as a centerfold. I can still remember the picture! I've since read that she was a Playmate, and a finalist for Playmate of the Year. |
