Well, Hussar123's endorsement of this model had me add it to a recent Shapeways order. And the Brown Water Navy Miniatures model of USS Eastport arrived this weekend. It's a nice sturdy model of an ironclad that is otherwise not available in 1/600 scale. Perfect for that Red River campaign or mid-war patrols on the Mississippi.

Nice, clean looking model.

Looks even better painted up :) I'm glad you liked it since I recommended it to you. I'm totally satisfied with mine as with the Lexington.

G-dog what else did you get in 1/600 ACW?

Mortar rafts. They were *not* as awesome as the Eastport model.

I've been in touch with the designer. He agrees they are undersized, just hast to find time to correct them.

The best advice I can offer is check the dimensions on Shapeways against dimensions from a couple of sources to ensure that what you are getting is scaled correctly. If I'd done that I would have seen right off that the mortars were too small…and too expensive for what they are!

Just about to order then I saw the shipping cost!

Geoff,

I'm not sure what you saw, but I paid $4.99 USD for USPS First Class Shipping.

It's cheaper than ordering from the other 'major players'. But yeah $4.99 USD shipping. I usually place an order for multiple items as it defrays the shipping costs.
