I am looking for a suitably big model to represent a platoon level transport. This should have a 20-40 passenger capacity. This is for a quasi Star Wars setting. Any suggestions? Thanks |

Feet? Tracks? Wheels? Grav? I might look at various kids toys that could be repainted, where the oversize would fit your purpose |

The mobility type is less of a concern than just the sheer presence and transport capacity. The ability to actually buy the model is important. A quick google search for 1/100 AT-AT revealed some crazy Ebay prices. Thanks |

I was looking for something similar, but not,"Star-Wars-ey". I have decided to kitbash something together. |

Quinjet toy model for a dropship. You'll want the larger, first edition model, sold at Toys R US, Walmart, etc. |

Nice repaint DITD I saw only of those online and the price range for an actual Star wars kit is getting a little silly. For example… link That is why close enough to look the part counts here. |

Try this listing number on eBay 131673416089, I can't copy the link for some reason 😏 |

Have you considered repurposing something like a Tau Devilfish from GW? You would need to do something to disguise the out of scale crew hatches (stowage, rolled camo nets etc)… |

The old AMT/ERTL Deep Space Nine Runabout model would probably fit your needs quite well. Here's one on fleaBay for $20 USD: auction
That thing is at least a good 12" long and could carry 15mm vehicles, too. If its too wide for you, the nacelles can be left off entirely, with just the curved wings protruding out. Here's someone who did a "holy crap!" detailing job on one:

If it's a starship/lander, perhaps this might fit the bill: link

How about this for a different approach? auction Technically it's 20mm, but it would work. |

Something like this perhaps?

Here was a kitbashed dropship I made a fair number of years ago. The body is a Trade Fed tank and the engines were from an old A-10 model. The legs are from some Tehnolog Robogear walker. I think my total investment was about $35 USD and my time.

thanks for the replies. Looking for more of a tank/APC than a flying transport |
Lion in the Stars | 29 Dec 2015 7:07 p.m. PST |
@Louie: I'd go for the actual Star Wars 6-legger, then. Unless something interesting shows up in Ep7. |

link IMHO, lots of zoids models could work (with some slight conversion if you don't like animal faces) as huge Star Wars-y AFVs. There is also a tortoise that would be even easier to de-animalize, but it doesn't appear to be on HLJ right now – perhaps some google-fu is required. Also, they are much more common, so finding a good price from a vendor in the states should be a breeze. |

I actually found one of these at a thrift store for making a tongue-in-cheek VSF walker. Just needs hundreds of rivets.
I'm sure there are more, say, menacing beasts. Imagine a ramp descending between the arms.
Heck, the right shaped plastic storage box with legs are possibilities. If it had a handle, I could be troop AND fig transport.
My, how I do go on! Doug |

TMP link I think this was a very large "kitty Carrier" for Khurasan's Felids |

Fritadas thus one has the rear access ramp. auction |

Between the Khurasan kitty Carrier and the Critical Mass Games wheeled APC which on is bigger? Does anyone have both? |
DyeHard | 30 Dec 2015 11:19 a.m. PST |
Well since we are talking about odd land transport. Here is a conversion I did from Star Wars to VSF with an old Micro Machines Action Fleet AT-TE
And here is what I did to it, spelled out in detail: link |

Obviously, you can NEVER have too many rivets! Indeed, sirrah, a thing of delight! Doug |

I've often thought the Tiger APC from Scotia-Grendel would make a great BIG 15mm not-AT-AT with a little conversion work. Replace the hatches with small turrets, replace the chin gun, should work pretty well? link -Will |

Possibly a little off the brief stylistically because of the steampunk overtones that the finished piece will have once I've finished it (only been at it for 4 years now). But reworked with a closed compartment, cleaner lines, reworked ramp and some obviously sci-fi gribbly bits it would work.
For a wheeled HAVw A5 juggernaut feel you could try a 1:48 scale BTR kit as starting point. |
