Some pics of my newest boat. I think this one is Langton's French 38- or 40-gun "Sané"-class frigate. Actually there were at least 4 distinct (if similar) frigate classes designed by Sané; no clue as to which this model is based on.
I'm still experimenting with how to best rig these things. I seem to be adding more and more sail on each one, which really makes the models stand out; of course it also makes rigging vastly more complicated! Still, it's an interesting challenge trying to make each ship better than the last. |

KniazSuvorov, as I see you have good skills in micro modeling, I invite you (if you want) to put in your boat crew. I add a link about Ebay where you could buy it. auction If you want to see how it would be the crew on the boat I add a link about a Sane-Class I made a few months ago for a client. link Regards, Julián |

Lots of sails, lots of ropes and lots of spares. I want to now see lots more ships from you. I echo the above Be safe Rory |

Wow, I'm not very technical on terms of ships but are the extra 'arms' at the bottom part of the kit or did you add them? |
KniazSuvorov | 02 Nov 2015 8:34 a.m. PST |
Hi cammster, The rig on this one is pretty heavily customised; I used Langton masts and bowsprit, but added royal topgallant masts and a flying jib boom made from straight (aka dressmaker) pins. I also used straight pins for the yardarms and stuns'l booms (the latter are the "arms" you're asking about, I think). The stuns'l yards are stiff plastic bristles from a dishwashing brush. All the sails are paper and homemade; last I checked you can't even get a full studding sail complement in 1/1200 commercially. Julián: some day I will try out those crew figures! For the moment I'm just building kits I already have and trying not to spend more money. |

Wow is right How are the 1:800 crew size wise seems like they would be 50% oversize ? Alvanco lists 1:1250 photo etch crew butno price so I don't know if they still make them |
ModelJShip | 20 Nov 2015 9:39 a.m. PST |
If you want 1/800 minis…you can buy Edward minis. You can get it in ebay |
jaxenro | 20 Nov 2015 10:39 a.m. PST |
No I want 1:1200 mini's was wondering about the 1:800 crew linked to above? |
Volunteer | 20 Nov 2015 5:21 p.m. PST |
jaxenro, The 1/800 Eduard minis are actually perfect for 1/1200 scale and the 1/700 is good for the 1/1000 scale ships. Just look at Julian's website to see them on his ships and in his towns and forts, you will see what I mean. Look at his Havana post and it's population TMP link I have both 1/800 and 1/700 Eduard figures, on his recommendation, and they are good. They are the same height as my 2MM troops. |
ModelJShip | 20 Nov 2015 6:16 p.m. PST |
Jaxenro, I add a link where you can see a Sail of Glory conversion using 1/700 Edward figures. TMP link You can buy in ebay. There are two scales: 1/700 or 1/800 |

Sales are amazing how do you do them? The whole model is amazing. Whats is it, under 2" long, and it looks as detailed as ones six times bigger |
