The 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Ridgeway is in June of next year. Named by author Peter Vronsky as the battle that made Canada, this little known skirmish of the 1866 Fenian raids features Civil War veteran Irish vs. some nattily clothed yet inexperienced Canadian forces.

There will be some sort of celebration held at Fort Erie:

Want to game Ridgeway?

Pendraken make a range in 10mm (use their Civil War figs for Fenians):

And you can discuss this battle on the 19th Century Conflicts in Canada Yahoo group:

I may try to convince the Missus that this would be the ideal time to see Niagara Falls, a place she wants to visit and has yet to do so.

I would love to be part of that reenactment. Alas, my nephew is graduating from high school in California then.

It would be interesting to game. I have a scenario kicking around in my "cool stuff to do one day" pile.

I am working on doing it in 54mm…..

Just saying.

Battleline Miniatures out of New Zealand have a Maori War range that can be used for the Canadians.

I picked up enough to get the various units present at Ridgeway: TMP link

Headswaps with Eureka Crimean War Royal Horse Artillery can give you the gents in Busby for the Welland Canal Field Battery. ACW in light kit can be used for Fenians.

How about Perry "British Intervention Force" for Canadians. They are armed with Enfields but the Canadians were probably using Sniders which were converted from Enfields so who would notice? (Don't answer that!)

What rules would you suggest for this little clash ?

Would Rockets Red Glare do it ?

Obviously need to make some weapon range changes.

We used Black Powder
