Okay, after a failed google search which just turned up stuff about opalescent paints, I'm going to try asking here…

I've got a figure holding some sort of supposed device, which basically looks like a dinner plate, so I though it might be fun to turn it into a holo-comm device, by sticking a 6mm mini onto it. Think the scene in Return of the Jedi in the AT-AT cockpit during the assault on Hoth! But how to paint it? So far the only idea I've had is to paint it a lurid green and try and fine line it horizontally with black. Anyone got any thoughts?

Maybe like Cortana in Halo; lots of blues with some white highlights. Also make the light from the dish spill out and up the arm holding it and maybe to the faceplate of the holders helm (if it has one).

@Redroom
Thanks, sounds like a better idea than mine idea, though I've always shied away from fancy lighting effects (I'm not that great a painter).

I'd go with Redroom. though you could do red or green – also popular colors for 3d projectors in SF.

Did it! Turned out okay (yeas, I am slightly surprised).
