If no one has done this recently, last 5 years or so I wouldlike to see a poll done. Otherwise someone please point it out to me. Thanks. |

I think theres been a few threads along the lines of "pls state you age location, gaming preferences etc" I dont know if anyone actually bothered to crunch the numbers though. IIRC from one with about 60 odd responces the average age was around the early fiftys , and at 31 I was something like the 3rd or 4th youngest! |

Was there a significant trend? Did the polls showing an aging group participating on TMP? Is there any realistic way to determine "hobby wide" mean/median/mode age of an "average" war gamer? Is this just a meaningless question? You decide… |

I'd play … As the age categories go by 10 year big numbers it would be useful to do this on a 10-year basis (so 2002 had a 2012 to compare with) – or this year could be compared with 2005: assuming you pick the same month, then the base would just slide one line (2005's fifty-somethings would become 2015's sixty-somethings) and any changes (youngsters coming in etc.) would be apparent … The cited examples are pretty haphazard (2002's fifty somethings could easily still be fifty somethings in 2008 – or not) … I'm a fifty-something that was a forty something in 2008 (but wasn't in the polls) … so wouldn't distort the stats much … I'm generally pretty average … TMP's audience looks just younger than average for the wargames organisations I know that analyse these things (that could be because of the technology … ) … Phil |

I am older than I once was, but younger than I'll be. That's not unusual. |

In 2002 most people were 30something (including me) six years later most people were 40 something (including me) Another seven years later – I'd go out on a limb and say mostly 40 something (including me), but might have just tipped over to 50 something (old, old, old wargamers ) |

@RavenscraftCybernetics – no, it isn't strange. But, after changes upon changes I am more or less the same. |

My average age is a shade over 28. Early in my life I was younger, now I am older. |

a shade over 28. On that basis, my shade is somewhere between deep shadow and cave dark. |

Every year, it seems to change. How can I give an accurate answer? |

Just take an average …… That's all the OP was asking. |

I am not immortal but people always guess my age a decade or more too young. |

55 for me. Well it looks like we are mostly a middle aged crowd. Not very many teenagers show up here but we always complain about keeping it family friendly. It appears it doesnt matter. Maybe tabletop gaming is passe' but with all the games and miniatures being put out you couldnt tell. Considering the average ages being 30-40+ there may be more money coming from less people to sustain the hobby. We are all fanatics after all ;) |
