My mother watches all the old 50s western reruns in black and white. The most recent episode of Batt Masterson she was watching he had 3 bad guys try to shoot him in the back while walking down the street. The first shot of course missed, then he whirls around fanning his gun and takes down the closest two baddies and then shoots the gun out of the hand of the third. After this he runs over and whacks him with his cane knocking him out of the fight. I thought that maybe one could run a game and give points to the bad guys for missing obvious easy shots, as well as major points for being beat up by the hero in the most dramatic manner. What do you think? Anyone try something like this? The more ridiculous and absurd the better. |

There is an Archie Bunker figure. Can't remember where I saw it. |

John-did you ever stat out the Seaview for Harpoon? You could combine the Outer Limits episode of the Alien POW camp with The Great Escape as a roleplaying game. |

I'm not sure if the question is about playing games based on old shows or what rules to try for the situation you've described, but if the former, shows like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Scooby Doo are a yes for me. For the rules, I think something like 7TV or Gaslight would work for a lighthearted cinematic western, I'm not familiar enough with western-specific rules to talk about them. |

I used to as a wee tot, with my wonderful, plastic Rat Patrol set, eons ago, complete with sand dunes, and possibly even palm trees, if I recall correctly. Lots of great use out of that set, on a lazy weekend afternoon. Sadly, everything went missing after a move to a new residence, or parental cleaning (not sure which). Of course, lots of good cowboys and indians scenarios as well, in addition to Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc. For character-driven games, it's a good idea to have a super-hero type RPG, or other set that permits good, cinematic, over the top action and drama, without much risk to your major characters, unless you like replacing them regularly. |

I think you could maybe take victory points based on a negative to your roll to hit, so the harder it was for your baddies to succeed the more points they would get. |

That Rat Patrol set was made by Aurora models. It had an oasis with palm trees and sand dunes. It also came with a Panther tank or two and the wrong model jeeps! Just love models bases on TV shows! |

I had an Aurora Rat Patrol set which met the same fate as Mako11's did. Great suggestions from everyone else on possible rules to use for TV show-based games. Ted |

I refer you all to the 7TV set of rules. A rules system designed purely to recreate old TV shows. |

In our cowboy skirmish games I have the Earps and Doc Holliday, Sgt. Preston and Yukon King and Mr. Favor, Rowdy, Wishbone, Jim and Pete from Rawhide. Plus of course an undead posse of the Ghost of Frank McLaury, a zombie, and A Ghost Rider in the Sky. We use mostly Blue moon 18MM but I have a few other makes and Sgt. Preston is an Essex conversion with a Peter Pig dog. |

PS – I forgot one, I also have the Rebel – Johnny Yuma. He's an Essex conversion as well. |

We've talked about doing a game where the figures, armour and terrain were painted in shades of grey. The Germans would have American half-tracks and post war tanks….. |

Anybody got a figurine with a "Mare's Leg" sawed-off Winchester carbine a la "Wanted: Dead or Alive"? Not necessarily a "Not-Zoe" from "Not-Firefly". |
