This has been asked several times through the years but, are there any RECENT examples of gamers trying to recapture the look and feel of BW movies of old (Westerns, Pulp, Pirates, Horror, SF, etc.)? If so, any links to good pics? And any tips? Thanks, Dan PS. Previous discussions: TMP link TMP link TMP link TMP link TMP link |

Interesting I remember a guy who did special forces training using blacked out figures and buildings and vehicles and such for night time ops. I was intrigued. |

I guess that what I'm looking for are ideas for doing it without making the figures look like they are part of the undead. Dan |

I don't have a URL but there was a guy in Germany I believe that did a Nosferatu Movie board all in grey scale
I'd search for it but my ISP is acting loopy. |

It's easy if you print paper terrain from PDFs (Such as VAG's Mean Streets/sets) – just print them on your B&W printer, instead of the color one! Long ago I thought of doing B&W figures for a convention game, but never got around to painting any. I'd use B&W photos from movies (Casablanca, etc). to get the shades of grey right. |

I intend to use this scheme for my road clogging refugees in 1940 France/Belgium |

I thought about doing this myself, for about five minutes. Then I realized how much more dynamic things look in color. I am almost certain this would not look good. I am interested that someone else has thought of this, it means that 1) I am not as demented as I thought, or 2) There are more demented people than myself. I suppose really that I just feel it would look terribly unfinished. Great on film/photography/most 2D media, not so much with representational 3D 'models'
.IMHO, of course. |

I saw someone who had painted sepia toned miniatures, and they looked very nice. But I don't have any photos. |

Moxi over on the Pulp City forums went for a Sin City look for his superheroes, mostly black and white with one splash of color, stylish and keen: link |
