I won't play any gamer where one side does not have a chance of winning, and here I mean winning in a conventional common sense way. Obviously "Auschwitz the Role Playing Game" would be one as would "Hitler's Bunker, the Last hours of the Third Reich" would be out too.
Of course if it was designed by Mel Brooks who can make the most horrible things funny --- maybe.

But the game that I definitely will not play is a game that is a "set up game" where it's designed to make one player the goat or whipping boy, especially when it's done as pure nastiness, even if I don't like the prospective "goat" myself.

I'm not a sadist.

Otto – I imagine games where one side is stacked so heavily as to be absurd, to satisfy national leanings would qualify as well.

Certainly, some Napoleonic setups seem to be rather excessively pro-French or pro-British :)

D&D because the pastor said I'd go to hell 8+)

Actually I understand some chaps who have had some bad experiences in modern conflicts would not like to revisit raw memories ( as I would not like experience some things that has happened to me)
But guys who get nose bent about playing Yanks or Rebs? Or something they believe in historically distasteful? I just don't play against them as they perhaps have too much in the game, and after all it is a game and a hobby to enjoy.
Caveat I've never had to play a p
Parliamentarian or hoist a flag for the Lancasterians ;)
But if its a game and the 'other' players are not prats I'm playing.
Cheers happy gaming. oh I won't play any Pokemon 'ever' :)

Man, Combatpainter, I was scrolling through your posts and was thinking these games were from your personal collection… I guess on TMP anything seems possible.

I'm amoral when it comes to history and geopolitics. I'll play any era or genre.

Not crazy about playing the SS but otherwise a game is a game

Well – except for Zombies! That I will not play

Old Slow Trot12 Aug 2014 7:12 a.m. PST

I used to have a copy of that Titanic game myself.

I should add: I don't do colonials. Maybe this is just being raised as a member of the PC liberal oppressor class and all, but it just never felt right with me.

Incidentally our fellow TMPers are now discussing an ISIS genocide game here, where the ISIS player apparently can win by gunning down as many civilians as possible:

That sums up a perfect example of what I would not play.

I wouldn't play anything that treated certain topics too lightly (although to avoid arguments here, I'll avoid naming what those certain topics are).

I also won't play games that are likely to provoke political discussions, which largely depends on the other players. So I wouldn't play an Anglo-Afghanistan war with anyone who would be likely to discuss the wisdom or folly of the current (or recent) policies there. Likewise I won't play an American Civil War game with those who would be likely to discuss what was at issue in the war itself. I game to get away from such topics, and even when I agree with the other gamer, it's not something I want to discuss at the gaming table.

Well I don't play anything after 1900 for land warfare or 1920 for naval gaming.
