As I've come to learn of the alternative life-style choices of the editor and assistant editors, I said to myself, "Why do I know about this anyway?" I don't know anything about the personal lives of the editors of the local papers. And I don't care. But I suppose if the local papers started running photos of the editors and interviews with them about their lives and personal information, somebody might do some digging and then if there was anything "different" others might start gossiping. And then, if those editors started denying the information and nasty comments or questions instead of ignoring them or responding with a "no comment" I can see how the whole thing might blow up. So, dear editors, maybe in the future you can avoid putting your personal lives in play by not posting interviews or stories about your lives or photos of yourselves, by ignoring rude comments about your lifestyle, and by just editing this website about toy soldiers and games. |

It is lovely to know your opinion, but couldn´t you have just posted this in one of the multitude of threads already going about this stupidity? Btw, |

My local news program did series on each of the news crew, visiting them at home and letting them talk about their lives and pasts. So it's not unheard of. |

As I've come to learn of the alternative life-style choices of the editor and assistant editors, I said to myself, "Why do I know about this anyway?" First of all, I don't think my lifestyle can be described as "alternate" – married for 27 years. Don't believe the gossip. Second, the assistant editors made every effort to keep their private lives out of the spotlight in their workplace. I don't know anything about the personal lives of the editors of the local papers. And I don't care. But I suppose if the local papers started running photos of the editors and interviews with them about their lives and personal information, somebody might do some digging and then if there was anything "different" others might start gossiping. Ever heard of Anderson Cooper? Prominent news anchor, son of a famous woman, interviewed hundreds of time. And everyone respected his privacy until he chose to reveal it. Many newspapers publish bios of their top people. Often with photos. Or link to the person's website or blog. The editors work here. They are part of the community. They will be seen on TMP from time to time, as they perform their jobs. This is normal. |

And then, if those editors started denying the information and nasty comments or questions instead of ignoring them or responding with a "no comment" I can see how the whole thing might blow up. If we stay private, you blame us. If we are open, you blame us. What do you want us to do? To hide? Maybe we didn't handle the attacks from the Frothers perfectly – we are human, so we have our faults. No one is perfect. Yesterday, because of the harassment from the Frothers, we revealed our gender. We have done this to prove that we are honest. We just want you to treat us the way you would treat any other TMP staff member. Our gender has nothing to do with whether we can do our jobs. Just live peacefully, and forget blaming and accusing so you can sleep well and live well. |

Well said Gwen. I'm sure (well I hope anyway) that all of the TMP staff have the support and respect of most members |

A good friend of mine, Paula Sophia made the transition from male to female 12 years ago, she was a US Army Lt. and Gulf War 1 vet, and then served 23 years as an OKC Police officer and is one of the bravest and best person I know. It was never a " Life Style" for her, She was always female inside. She's not the only one. TMP link |

I've been reminded by a reader that certain silly posts are off topic for this board. Those posts have been removed. |

Pity. The whole thread and those like this should be nuked. |

The whole thread and those like this should be nuked. That would inspired even more threads about how terrible censorship is and why threads are being nuked… |

Damn your logic!!! ;) LOL. |

I've been reminded by a reader that certain silly posts are off topic for this board. Those posts have been removed. It's a time-honored tradition that any and all threads on TMP can be derailed, on any board. If you removed all the silly off-topic posts on TMP it would be reduced to a mere fraction of its size. But then again, maybe search by posts would no longer time out. |

My two cents worth. To the TMP Editors: I admire you. I admire you doing your job on this site and your dedication to it. I admire you are putting up with strange people who roll dice, read rules, and push plastic and lead soldiers on a table. I admire your defensive stance (and your counter attacking) when people unfairly and rudely targeted you on a personal basis. I admire that you are carrying on in spite of the crap some people are throwing at you. I also admire your resiliency (as Filipinos) to bounce back from whatever is thrown at you on a personal basis (such as the nonsense going on now) or as a nation (typhoons, hurricanes, Abu-sayaff, etc.). Keep your chin-up and keep on doing what you are doing with this site, as more people support and respect you than you may realize. Good luck and thank you, Editors… |
