Hey all. Sorry, this is a bit of a newbie question – I've got little experience with VSF, or even just the V-part. That said, I bought the IHMN + 2 supplements today as I'd gotten a gift voucher to the amazon store and had heard good things. The game looks fun, and is actually something I'd be interested in playing.

As it stands now, the only things I've got that are relevant are some Warlord plastic Zulus that I'm going to put together, and I'm quite inclined to put together some Mahdists (did I miss a Kalifa company list in one of the books?) with the Perry plastics.

But I'm looking for more general advice; how have you all gone about putting your companies together? I'll be assembling groups of figures to show some friends the game, and while the Northstar miniatures are really nice (I'm very tempted by the Akhenaton cultists in particular) they only cover a small number of the companies in the rules.

The companies seem small enough that I can do small groups of related miniatures. Ideally, I'm thinking:
Zulus, Sons of the Desert, and "Apache" for the indigenous types
Foreign Legion, British Rifles, and U-Troop or Security Service types to have a few options for the colonial invader types
Servants of Ra and Hellfires for the full-on weird types
Brick Lane for the political types

If anyone's got suggestions for minis or lines to use for some of those (or examples of how they've gone about building up some companies) I'd be interested in hearing them. I apologise if this is a bit spoon feed-y. Outside of my 15mm scifi collection I really have little idea of how to navigate the wide open realm of rules without corresponding miniature lines. :P

Artizan does a range of French Foreign Legion that I'm using. They match well with the IHMN range.

I asked a similar question earlier. Here's the answers I got.

Incidentally, the French Foreign Legion figures you see in the original IHMN rulebook are the Artizan figures McWong73 mentioned.

Most of my VSF figures have come from RAFM's 1889 range; Ironclad Miniatures, and Eureka – available in the UK from Fighting 15s.

The Foundry Victoriana lines are full of good stuff too.

Look at Lead Adventure Miniatures:

Really great figures, definitely worth their price !
I could paint Clyde (VSF-1) including the hands on his pocket watch… (and I am only a mediocre painter !).
