These vehicles were shown being built and painted in the previous thread Stowage baskets, bedrolls and tarps TMP link
They are now finished (well some of them: 4 AFVs) and have had a page added to the previous Stowage 'How To' page on the Slammers website link I think you'd agree that they are rather nice models from Brigade and paint up well. I think the Ainsty decals and mesh baskets set them off well.
Bit of a 'way to close' close-up that last one but
:) I took a different tac on this batch by using just the Army Painter Inks and dry brushing to shade them. Usually I use Army Painter dips or a Future and Ink dip. Just experimenting. John T |

Look awesome but desert Brits and no desert rat symbol !, go on u know you want to :-) |
John Treadaway | 27 Jun 2014 8:23 a.m. PST |
I've umm'd and arr'd over symbology for these for a while, Johnny Boy. They are from a Scottish planet in the Slammerverse so I need to do some thinking, as I will do (now I have some models finished) for a play sheet (when I get a chance). I will sort out some insignia at that point, I think. But I'm glad folks are liking them: at the moment the Brigade stuff is struggling to put a foot wrong, IMHO: they are all a good scale, well sculpted/designed and pretty well cast. And the keep bringing the blighters out! John T |

Excellent work on excellent figures! |

John, If you want insignia used by tanks from a Scottish regiment have a look at the 4th Royal tank regiments "Chinese eye" symbol like this one on a restored chieftain

Outstanding work as usual John Looking forward to their play sheet. Speaking of Brigade stuff, have you seen what Tony just released ? I'd love to see if you can find a use for them |
Tom Reed | 27 Jun 2014 9:07 a.m. PST |
Wow! Jut wow! Those are very cool John. The new Brigade stuff is really nice. |
John Treadaway | 27 Jun 2014 10:13 a.m. PST |
Speaking of Brigade stuff, have you seen what Tony just released ? I have seen some of them Major: their new Germans are really nice and ugly, in a good sort of way. What I hadn't seen was the side skirts: they look fantastic I have to say. Right: I shall speak to Tony at Brigade and see what can be done. I have some spare forces mentioned in Drake's books* that I've been saving space for, force wise: I must be able to do something with them! Thanks for the pic and info Soldado: I was nodding in that general directon with the white, red, white bar on the vehicles but a full eye would be better. I was speaking to Keith at Armies Army just then about some figures for the Scots/Brits as well so that could all work out. I think I'll still do the tracked APC towing a field gun approach for them as Brigade do the field gun but – again – I'll speak to Brigade about that. Tom, Mark, Patrick and all: thanks for the kind words. John T * because my objective was always to make the Crucible forces as Slammer background led as physically possible |

Nice paint jobs, and really love those Brigade Brits. Brigade Vehicles + AA British is the force I want to put together next. -Will |

Top job John they have turned out looking sweet, as for the Stewart Regiment insignia how about the obvious a blue shield with a while thistle on it. :) zac |

As john mentioned, I've something that might fit well
It's troops in the Glengarry hat. Very Scottish, it was on my list to convert my Brits to scots guards, so if I have interest I'll build some up. I might do a kilted option to:) |
AVAMANGO | 27 Jun 2014 12:51 p.m. PST |
I might do a kilted option to:) How about a Coms officer playing the bagpipes in the command group. |
Armiesarmy | 27 Jun 2014 1:53 p.m. PST |
I'll have to see the interest, however every Scottish regiment needs a piper! |
(Major Disaster) | 27 Jun 2014 2:01 p.m. PST |
Kilted bag-piping comms officer is fine. Just don't do this-

John – the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards often used a small Saltaire flag on their Chaallenger IIs. Simple enough to do too! ( link A model, but shows the style) |
John Treadaway | 27 Jun 2014 3:52 p.m. PST |
Should be easy to source both saltires and desert rat symbols without resorting to custom decals too. Thanks for the input folks! John T |

Thanks L4 Brigade do them in 6mm as well so I'll have to do sheets for 6mm as well – for chaps such as yourself! John T |
Johny Boy | 29 Jun 2014 11:29 a.m. PST |
Really like the look of Brigade's ONESS Gremams, I'd like to do them as a Near future Scandanavian force, with the current swedish camo, think the models would show it off rather well. Link link |
Johny Boy | 29 Jun 2014 11:39 a.m. PST |
Probably with GZG DPRG infantry in support
dammit another Gruntz force on the list |
(Major Disaster) | 29 Jun 2014 1:03 p.m. PST |
@ Johny Boy I can see the German ONESS painted up in Swedish splinter camo
I'm planning on making a near future Germanic force myself, but I'm going to use GZG's Neu Swabian League Panzergrenadiers as my infantry component |
Johny Boy | 29 Jun 2014 1:40 p.m. PST |
NSL are going towards my "simply carn't believe they're not Helghast force which is about 10 on the list of to do forces but yes they would also look good as near future German troops. Love the pic, that's the look we are after. The ONESS have that functional slabsided look spot on. |

Thanks Zac When I get to a computer that has remembered my ebay password I'll order some! John T |
John Treadaway | 03 Jul 2014 2:13 a.m. PST |
Well I ordered some of the scottish saltires but they didn't turn up in time for these vehicles. I do like the models (Brigade Neo-Sovs being pressed into service with the Stewart Regiment) and I do like the baskets I've added but I'm a little unhappy with the paint on them.
The Army Painter Inks (like the GW ones before they recently changed them but unlike the rather older GW inks that I painted some cloudships link with almost a decade ago) are, I think, just a bit too blotchy to use on big areas like a slab sided vehicle. I may revert to using Army Painter Dip or Future and Ink wash for the sort of look I'm after (if I can only sort the dip versus varnish conundrum
) For a Future and Ink example, I cite this

Thanks Matt We plan to be there as very early as we can be on Saturday morning with as much extra scenery – and some tanks – as we can carry in my wife's titchy little car. It's either that or the bike

Great minis & stowage John, Would you be so kind to point us to where we can find the etched basket on the Ainsty site. please ? As no amount of searching I did has unearthed it
. Thanks Z |

: That's kind Zac – we will do our best to take pics – I'll certainly try to pack the 'big' camera :) zrunelord I was sent some of the pre-production prototypes. I spoke to Andy at Ainsty yesterday asking him about prices as I was doing a review for the column in MiniWargs. He's busy ordering the production batch and told me that they'll be £1.00 GBP a set for 6 sets for £5.00 GBP Each set comprises of a big basket (suitable for the back of a big tank turret) two medim sized baskets and one smaller basket. The medium and small baskets can be seen on the Howizer APC in the shots above or the medium one can be seen on the back of the turret on the Artemis APC. Each set has a few textured panels and disg ariels and so forth to fill up dead space. You can see one of thelatter stuck on the front of the mortar's sighting system, mounted on it's roof. Until he gets them on his site, can I sugest you drop him an email to express interest. |

Excellent again John – have the anti-tank guns arrived yet ? I know you mentioned pressing Laskas into service as tractors, which has made me think about creating a proper AT gun tractor for the Brits with sufficient space for crew and ammo (which certainly wouldn't go in a Laska !). Incidentally, did the HS token set ever go into production with FiC ? I couldn't find it on their website the other day. |
John Treadaway | 08 Jul 2014 5:27 a.m. PST |
Tony In order: Yes (Arived yesterday) Fab (I'd imagine they would get something like that – like to see a Land Rover or Jackel type too) Yes (He had them at Salute) !! John |
Tony Francis | 08 Jul 2014 6:08 a.m. PST |
John – in order again - Jolly good - I'm planning something based on the track units of the Soviet APC (cheaper that way, it'll only need a resin mould rather than a more expensive metal mould) - Oh – I'll have to drop him a line since searching for 'Hammer' or 'Slammer' on the FiC website returns nothing |
John Treadaway | 08 Jul 2014 7:29 a.m. PST |
Tony I was using the tokens at Hammerhead and Bovington – the idea is he sells a basic detachment pack and I think a separate missile pack. I can't remember the mix (I could read about it in the previous issue of Fantasy Facts when I did a review of them but, err.., I don't have the mag with me at the moment!) John T |
John Treadaway | 08 Jul 2014 9:10 a.m. PST |
Got hold of my copy of the mag (issue 374) A basic detachment pack is priced at £20.00 GBP but I think the missile pack and the destroyed flames may well be separate: I can't now rememebr to be honest. Erik at FiC is the man to askor use the contact page on their site link John T |
