I am thinking of Starting a small Ranger force for FIW skirmish (now I have finished the French and the Indian forces). I prefer to stick with Redoubt/Perry size as that is what I have already and I like the range of Redoubt Ranger Boats (though I also have some of the larger Northstar – rather than Conquest models too)
Unfortunately Redoubt do not do a Command pack and AW and Galloping Major are a bit hefty to mix, so do I change manufacturers or is there a Ranger Officer figure out there I need to see?

Change scales! RAFM do a nice Rogers fig in 25mm.

thanks spontoon I had forgotten to look at RAFM – how do they stack up size wise if:
Small = OG, Conquest
Medium = Northstar, Redoubt, Perry
Large = Galloping Major, AW Minis

EDIT its OK just found this review

Hmmm may have to have another look at AW as they seem to match OK in the Rangers (the AW Figure I have is a French Reg)

My plan is to use the body and arms from the new Wargames Factory Coloinal Milita figures and one of the light inf. heads from the British set. I'm sure he will tower over my Warlord/Conquest figures, but oh well.

Were ranger officers that much different looking then the normal troops? I'm doing mine up this way so when I field them I can spot the leader easier while moving figures around.

RAFM are tiny 25mm figures. They only fit with themselves.

Dunno about the other Rangers but the accounts I read of Rogers Rangers the Officers kept their original uniforms from whichever regt they cam from so I might just use a Provincial or Highland Officer type?

The "Robert Rogers" figure, complete with his dog, can be found in the Conquest Colonial Rangers A pack.

He will be a little slimmer and slightly shorter than the Redoubt figures but should match the Foundry ones OK. I also have some Redoubt rangers including a good officer figure. He is the one gesturing in the middle of the first picture in this post which includes some Foundry American Revolution light infantry:

And by themselves here:

Too bad that the GM figures will not mix in with your other figs. There are some really cool poses.
take care,

Thanks lads, the conquest do look nice but I am replacing all my Conquest minis with larger castings . BTW is that a bomb in his hand?

The GM ones are also cool and I have a gaming buddy with some of his Rangers so will have another look, have thought about just getting the command personalities pack Vs getting the whole force from GM.

Above is the complete line of Rangers from Galloping Major , with not one figure the same. Some food for thought.
take care,
