There's another thread on this subject titled "Ogre Miniatures Status" further down the page, but the short answer is no. They made one or two runs of Ogre miniatures in association with the recent Kickstarter for the board game, but the last batch appears to be sold out and it seems unlikely there will be any more as SJG says they are not making any money on the miniatures, even at the $40 USD each they were charging for the last batch of the larger Ogres. |

Perhaps SJG should approach Khurasan, GZG, Rebel, et.al., about making the OGRE figures? |

You might consider doing this instead. Not official OGRE miniatures but they will work and the price is right as well as looking pretty good. TMP link TMP link TMP link |

Perhaps SJG should approach Khurasan, GZG, Rebel, et.al., about making the OGRE figures? I believe its been suggested and the impression given was that they weren't particuarly interested in subcontracting or licencing the miniatures. I'm not sure why these other companies can make money selling their miniatures for a fraction of the price that SJG said they were losing, or at least not making, money on the Ogre miniatures. |

It comes down to what they consider "profit". They set their msrp at much, much higher over production cost than other companies do and claim it is necessary to stay in business. For the miniatures to be competitively priced they would have to not make as much profit per miniature, which in their verbiage is "losing money". Whatever I personally think of this it isn't going to change their minds. |

As someone who bought his first Martian Metals Ogre in 1979, and has about 500 or so beautifully-airbrushed miniatures that have not been used in over a decade, I can safely tell you that trying to be an Ogre/GEV miniatures fan ranks up there with being a Cubs fan in terms of eternal disappointment and frustration. Just spare yourself the anguish. In 2014 there are lots of great, affordable sci-fi miniatures games that are supported, complete, and have state-of-the-art rules and state-of-the-art miniatures. As a miniatures game, Ogre/GEV is none of these things, nor will it EVER be. We've been arguing about the reasons for this for over three decades, and it doesn't ever change the reality of the situation. |

We'll be playing a game of Ogre at Games & Stuff in Glen Burnie Maryland, Monday night the 19th of May. The last time I played this game was with cardboard counters on a very small game board. Can't wait! Joe |

I was pleased that as part of the Ogre KS, SJG said they would being the miniatures back. I was surprised and a bit disappointed that they brought them back for about nine months. That to me, is hardly the spirit of "bringing something back" Very glad I waited to see if they were serious before buying any. |

Darkrazor, The updates from the Kickstarter have included a fair amount of information on SJG's thoughts for miniatures. Take a look: link |

The updates from the Kickstarter have included a fair amount of information on SJG's thoughts for miniatures. Interestingly, the April 21 Update mentions the possibility of producing a set of plastic minis that would cover the units in the basic game. They are very noncommital on the possibility, but I would buy such a set (possibly more than one if the pricing was anywhere near reasonable) if they were made, especially if it might encourage them to produce more plastic minis to cover the additional units in the game. Still, it seems a rather remote possibility. |

I completely understand the frustration. But SJG just spent a lot of money to set up a complete production system for their current 3d-cardboard Ogres, etc. I know they were thinking about producing further expansions along that line as well, so why release and support a product (metal minis) that will compete with your own product (hardboard stand ups). Unfortunately for fans of the minis, supporting the board game makes much more sense at this point. -Will |

so why release and support a product (metal minis) that will compete with your own product (hardboard stand ups). I don't really see it as competing products. IMO at leasst there is a *very* tiny overlap in people who would buy either. In other words, very few miniatures fans are going to buy their carboard cut outs. Most of them will just not buy *anything* if the miniatures are not available. |

Lucius has expressed my feelings on the SJG Ogre miniatures exactly. We miniatures players have been begging to have the complete line available for over 30 years. It almost happened with Ral Partha. I feel that the spirit of the Kickstarter miniatures goal was not met, since they only brought back the miniatures for a limited amount of time. I still don't understand how all of these other companies manage to stay in business making specialized, low volume miniatures, when SJG says it can't be done profitably. |
Paint it Pink | 17 May 2014 4:30 a.m. PST |
Don't get me started, but ultimately it boils down to SJG saying, "we do what we think is best." |

Someone mentioned Khurasan, just ask him how much money he makes on his miniatures ;-) Even GZG and Rebel minis are more run like hobbies then businesses, most small miniature companies are. Miniature companies like Reaper and IWM are not like hobbies and you'll notice that metal miniatures are a tad bit more expensive over there
Reaper: 12x 10/12mm CAV light infantry = $12 USD Rebel: 21x 15/18mm Earth Force Marines Infantry = $11 USD Not only is reaper almost twice as expensive per mini, it's also a far smaller scale and uses less then a fourth of the metal of the larger minis. Even at the single 28mm miniatures lever is Reaper 20% more expensive then Khurasan. There's a reason why Reaper is moving to automated systems using PVC
Why not Kickstart a plastic range of Ogre miniatures? Let the people/fans speak! I would love some HQ hard plastic tanks & infantry in 6mm. But it would still depend on the overall pricing of the range, I can understand an Ogre tank being the most expensive item in the range, but let us have 'cheap' infantry and basic tanks

Why not Kickstart a plastic range of Ogre miniatures? I know I would be all over such a Kickstarter. I'd love to get a whole set of Ogres along with Combine and Paneuropean conventional forces at even halfway affordable prices. Sigh. |
