Hi All,
Here's some pics of our new plastic Republican Romans, fresh off the sprue and prepped ready for painting.
We have these guys up on our website available as a pre-order for collection at Salute, or dispatch once the show is over. £25.00 GBP for 40 figures, or £30.00 GBP for 56 if you opt for our Legionary and Velite bundle deal. We will also have our metal command figures available too.

These look great Greg. Good luck with your new venture, the figures look good and ill certainly be buying to bulk out my romans. I did check your site and none of the links worked for me except the cart itself.. Details, the pics at the bottom etc. i am using an iPad. Maybe others could check and see if they work for them. Do you also have a size comparison anywhere next to say Foundry, just so customers could judge whether they'd be a good fit.

Looks like the bundle deal would give you most of a DBA army and then some.

Those look incredible! And are priced very well.

All you need is Gauls and you'll have a permanent customer ;)

Thanks
Austin

Do they come with shield transfers? LBM perhaps?

Monophthalmus04 Apr 2014 1:13 p.m. PST

Hi JezEger,
Thanks! Hmm, our current site isn't optimised for iPad or mobile, so that could be the reason it's not working. We have a new site built that hopefully we'll be able to put live soon which is fully iPad and mobile compatible, so it should be much easier. If you can't wait and want to order, drop me a mail to agema.miniatures@gmail.com and I can manually process for you.
We'll try and get a size comparison posted soon.
Wrgmr1 – we don't have any shield transfers available yet. Still a work in progress.
Cheers

Lovely stuff! At last Non-uniform plastic Romans! That said I don't need Triarii! What is the ratio of Triarii to Hastati / Pricipes?

Porkmann04 Apr 2014 1:48 p.m. PST

Just visited your site. Only eight old timers, still a good value set as far as I am concerned!

JezEger04 Apr 2014 2:30 p.m. PST

Tx Greg. I mentioned the iPad thing more as an FYI in case you weren't aware. I have several other machines I can use.
Porkman, triarii made up the third line of the legion which was in turn made up of equal parts hastati, principles and triari. From what I can tell they looked the same as principles with a different helmet. So long as you have enough pila to swap for their spear I don't think you'd notice. I am notoriously laid back on such things though, ymmv.

Beautiful and well animated pieces !

Generalstoner4904 Apr 2014 3:30 p.m. PST

What is the scale on these figures? Are they true 25mm or closer to 28mm?

Porkmann04 Apr 2014 3:42 p.m. PST

Hopefully interchangeable with Victrix forthcoming Romans!

Baconfat04 Apr 2014 6:53 p.m. PST

They look like the best plastic Romans out.

woundedknee05 Apr 2014 4:19 a.m. PST

Porkman,
Agema's earlier post re these said their 40-figures consisted of 8 kneeling Triarii and 16 each of the Hastati and Principes – which is believed to be the correct ratio according to contemporary Roman sources. A legion would also have the same number of Velites as Triarii ( i.e. 16) making a total of 56 figures.Hope that helps.

JezEger05 Apr 2014 11:45 a.m. PST

Duh, you're right WK, my bad. same number of units, but each half strength of the hastati and principles, thus half the troops.
Does anyone reflect this in their games, ie smaller units of triarii? Mine are all the same size, just less units.

Monophthalmus05 Apr 2014 1:41 p.m. PST

Hi All,
Thanks for the kind words – really glad you like them! Size wise they are 28mm foot to eye. We've tried to stick with anatomically correct proportions for the figures; I think there are a few comparisons out there of our earlier Velites box set which might help. Here's a link to an earlier TMP post.

Very nice looking figures. almost Good for a DBA army. The 2.2 list is
1x3Cv (Gen), 1x3Cv, 6x4Bd, 2x4Sp, 2x2Ps.
6 cavalry
24 Hastati and Principes
8 Triarii.
4 velites (not 16)

You can use the same for DBA III but option for some Ax allies

dragonfan7905 Apr 2014 5:48 p.m. PST

Damn, I said to myself no more Romans as I have Marian, EIR, MIR, LIR and Patrician… but these boys look nice enough to break that resolution!

Monophthalmus06 Apr 2014 2:31 a.m. PST

Hi dragonfan79,
Far be it from me to dissuade you! As you have nearly every Roman combination going, one more to complete the set wouldn't hurt! :-)
Cheers
Greg
