Hi all! I received a prerelease sample of Agema Miniatures new plastic velites. I've posted a review and a few painted samples to my blog in case you are interested.

I like the figures, but would not commit to an army until there are enough figure types to do the whole army. The Velite figures will ave many uses and are eaisly converted to other skirmish types.

How do these scale up to other ranges?

Captain Lumo10 Apr 2013 9:49 a.m. PST

Good review thanks. Pre-ordered as well

Agema has provided 2 boxes as prize support for the Adepticon Ancients tournaments. Drop by the judges tables if you'd like to check out the new sprue.

Hi All,
We have these figures on pre-order for collection at Salute.

The figures are discounted and also obviously save you the postage, so grab yourself a bargain!
Cheers

Does anyone have these next to Warlord or Aventine Roman comparison pics?

JSears14 Apr 2013 6:04 p.m. PST

I don't have an extensive collection of Republican Romans, but I thought a comparison to a few others that I had on hand might help:

(L-R) Crusader Miniatures officer, Agema velite, Warlord Praetorian:

Agema velite, Wargames Factory Romans:

My those fellas are tall

But not chunky as compared to Crusader! So thats a good thing

GeorgiosF04 May 2013 3:14 a.m. PST

Hello there.
These figures looks great. Can they combined with Ceasars Era figures?

Marcus Maximus04 May 2013 1:31 p.m. PST

They are tall which is a shame as they look very nice figures. I think if they were 3mm smaller they would be ideal…..and I would be very tempted…..

Agema appear compatible height-wise with Crusader.

Yes- some of the minis they are compared with, above, (Wargames Factory, Warlord Early Imperials) are at the lower end of the size spectrum.

And versus Foundry?

Asteroid X15 May 2019 9:43 p.m. PST

Wargames Foundry and Wargames Factory Republican Romans work VERY well together!

Foundry has two lines of Imperial Romans. The olde ones (Perry) are the same size as the Warlord Imperial Romans (in fact, some of the poses are so identical it may be argued that Warlord simply copied the Foundry poses and put them into plastic!).

The newer Imperial Romans by Foundry are much larger.
