I'm currently working through replacing all of the wooden blocks supplied with Commands & Colors Napoleonics with individually based 15mm Essex figures. Essentially I'm aiming for attractive playing pieces that are robust as they will take a lot of handling – Essex are perfect for this. It's something a little bit different perhaps, but I enjoy the game and rules. Once I have done the French and Russians I'll do the British/Portuguese followed by the Austrians. Cheers, Lee.
Loads more pics on my blog :-) link |

They look really nice. I have just returned from my friends house who showed me this game for the first time. I think I could be very tempted to buy this but will try a few games first. What's the game like? |

Thank you chaps. Kinsnevatt -it does depend on what you look for in a game but personally I love it! It's card driven and plays very fast turns, you may only get to order 1 to 5 units per turn and things can change rapidly. What I can say is that there is far more subtlety in the way the game plays than first appears and it takes time to master. The rules are quick to learn though and the scenarios are always challenging and balanced. The good thing is that you can download the complete rulebook (official GMT Games PDF) from HERE : PDF link So you can read them before you buy! 1815 Guy, I have been there before :-) Pic below of my hand made 'fluffy' AWI version.
For these napoleonics I like playing on the game board, but I agree the Hexon terrain is brilliant so you never know. Cheers, Lee.

Gotta love this idea which I have seen more gamers doing and adapting to other periods. Would love to do this myself
