There is a rumor flying around that The White Dwarf as we know it will cease. White Dwarf Magazine as a monthly release is no more. Gone and replaced by a new weekly magazine called White Dwarf Visions. There is also a new monthly magazine called 'Warhammer' Visions. This will all happen immediately.

I feel less sad about this than I did about The Dragon and Dungeon magazines – even though I had all but stopped playing RPGs by that time. |

Have a small stack of A&E's – prehaps you also recall "Lion & Lamb Chronicles " ? A&E was such a gaming legend – I well recall the thrill of seeing my own first humble contributions nestling up against those of various hobby luminaries. Them was the days indeed. |

Got rid of my early WDs, but recall them as a good source especially the Hang gliding Dwarves!! Tally Ho! |

A PRINTED magazine? Does that mean between the two of them, I'd now be out $100 USD a month? |

I've still got the 1st 40 or so WD laying around somewhere, but have so few later issues. It all went downhill after issue 30 odd. I remember in the day it was a cracking magazine when it dealt with many different games, but went downhill far too quickly when it became GW only. My favourite amateur fanzine was Trollcrusher, followed by Beholder and Underworld Oracle. |

I had a large number of early issues and when I tried to get any takers for them at flee markets. I could not give them away. Considering the cover price for them over the years I am not surprised GW is getting rid of it. Hard cover print seems to be in death spiral. Yes as a librarian I feel that way. |

I really miss the scratch building articles and the card stock inserts. Ten dollars of ads, no matter how spiffy, just ain't what I want to spend that money on. One grand Patron margarita gives me more pleasure for the same price. |

If you subtract what has been mere adverts in the one or other from from the WD, the remnant content hardly justified the pricetag for a long time. Still, I would rather have seen it reform then die. |

Hard cover print seems to be in death spiral. Yes as a librarian I feel that way. I think hard copy will always have its place but I think the content of magazines is probably better served by .pdfs and websites/forums. I still want game rules in hardcopy, but at least for RPGs I'm prefer the adventures be .pdfs. |

Why didn't they tell me this when I renewed my subscription? |

because they wouldn't have got their hands on your cash ! |

I'd now be out $100 USD USD a month? At least that and possibly even more. They are planning on a Weekly paid advertisement and a big ass 230 pages paid advertisement pieces of junk. |

@Space Monkey – thanks for the A&E link ! Looks like it's still going
just. Says 50-60 pages an issue, used to be about three times the size ! I might have to revive my old APA contribution for it – last update would have been about 30 years ago ! Wonder if RPGs have changed much in that time! |

Wonder if RPGs have changed much in that time! Gee, not at all. :) |

I thought underworld oracle was best. The Ninja was a bit bent to say the least. A load of attacks with this hand
annnnd
a load of attacks from this hand. Doubled because of my permanent haste. I contributed to Trollcrusher. Bashed out my articles on mum's old typewriter. Yep. A mechanical typewriter. None of yer fancy spellchecking stuff for me. Not my finest content neither come to think of it. I met the bloke did a load of the front artwork at a convention waaaay back. I think maybe 1979. Ahhh, those were the days. |
