My google-fu (and TMP-fu for that matter) is not helping me find much on these. I can see some old threads about the Brits, but little on the French.

Has anybody got these and done anything with them? I am interested in getting some and, whilst I know size is not crucial, I am slightly concerned that they may be far too big for my soft plastic 54s. So has anybody compared them and formed an opinion?

Marc, I carry and have worked with the French and Brits. The French are smaller than the Victrix British, both in height and girth. The French compare favorably to our own metal French infantry marching; I've done head swaps between them and you'd never know the difference. They also do well against the Hat and AiP French.

Ken – don't know if you see all the threads, but the cuirassier finally escaped customs – really nice, and the customs charge was not too scary – thanks grin

I think the Victrix are lovely minis. I believe the mamelukes below are Italieri, and they worked fine with the Victrix that composed the rest of the army.

The details on the Brits seem noticable crisper than on the french. Still nice figures.

The British were very crisp; one could see the hobnails on their boots.

Informative, thanks.

No idea how you do that as a direct TMP link

So Schu – softer details but size wise? Are you happy with the mix?

How well do they work with Historex?

Jl – who can afford Historex! Youch, their prices are scary. I quite like the look of Helmet Miniatures instead.

We used them in our Leipzig game at Colours – they blend in fine. We had every version of 1/32nd-1/30th from plastic original Airfix through to Victrix and Del Prado metal. Did anybody notice the 'scale differences'? Did it impact on enjoyment of the game?

Marc the plastics fan25 Oct 2013 7:20 a.m. PST

I agree Mike, but I want to mix them in a unit of Italeri/Tiger French so would npot want them to stanfd out. In your recent TSC article, you mentioned some figures, but the pictures hid them with flags – maybe you had more pictures for that article than got printed.

Many years ago I saw photos of an army built entirely with Historex figures; given their price, it must have cost him a fortune.

Haven't seen them for years, perhaps his bank manager had him committed.

The sculpting detail on the French Artillery set is outstanding, BTW. The figures are such that they will stand alongside painted metal and look as good, if not better. A new high for 54mm plastics!
