I've started a 54mm French Voltigeurs project as part of a 54mm Napoleonics project. Am using Victrix box set. I'm painting the box set as a generic panorama of uniforms from 1809-1812 as this is a collection rather than a specific order of battle. Take a brief look and post up some feedback…Thanks!

Gotta give you a thumbs up for having a picture there of the old Funken book open at one of those unforgettable illustrations … a great inspiration to me as a teenage wargamer in days gone.

Love 54s, Love ATKM (just waiting for my cuirassier to clear customs), Love Funcken.

What's not to like. Great blog – keep it up.

I've got Cuirassiers and Carbiniers from ATKM. They are SUPERB!!! You'll love them. They're next on my list "to paint". Lick your chops….they're worth every bit of the time it takes!

Yes, really looking forward to them. Ken has been really good through the process of US to UK so if I can ever convince Parcelforce to release them then I will be away. They look good, and I like the mix of plastic horses and metal figures. It is so good to see some cavalry – I have hassled HaT but their 54mm stuff seems to be on long term hold now. Shame, as I like their figures.

Lovely work Steve. I'm painting some 54mm Victrix – fantatic figures. Waiting for them to release more. Found the ATKM site via your post. They look really good. Are they compatible with the Victrix figures? Tempted to get some, but don't want them to look out of place, or odd, next to the Victrix figures. Any views anyone? Are they easy to get from the States? Thanks.

Best Wishes Davejl

Dave – how have you found the Victrix – size wise? I quite like the look of them and fancy using them to make some extra officers etc for my French, but am concerned that they may dwarf the Italeri etc

And finally got my ATKM cuirassier – really nice, and very clean mouldings. Ken was very quick at sending them, and was great at communication, so once Parcelfoirce admitted to having them and finally letting me pay customs, I got them in my hands. Well worth the wait, and recommended to anyone who fancies some French heavies.

I've finished the Victrix Volts. and am basing them now. The project has taken a long time but well worth the time put to it. The figures work great with ATKM by the way. I'll post the unit up to my blog when completed.

Looks like great stuff.

how do the Victrix compare with other ranges, notably the Armies in Plastic British? I heard that they dwarf some opf the other manufacturers.

pilum4026 Oct 2013 3:32 p.m. PST

I've got some Armies in Plastic AWI. I'll check and try to remember to snap a comparison pic. I'm of the old school that won't mix and match many manufacturers together. I'm thinking brigaded together they'll work just fine.

Hi Mark.
Sorry not got back sooner, but been away at the 200th Anniversary re-enactment of Leipzig. It was brilliant.

Re size of the Victrix figures, all i can say is that on their own, they look great and are really good to paint. At Salute, they had some Italieri cavalry (Marmalukes, dragoons and some british Light Cav) and they looked fine on the table with all the victrix figures – you'd never know the difference.

Hope that helps. I'm thinking of trying some ATKM but like you, am worried that the sizes might not match up. Love their cuirassier figures.

Best Wishes Davejl
