When embarking on the 15mm forces for Hammer's Slammers The Crucible, I wanted to avoid replication of forces I had already produced in 28mm. At least that was the plan!

picture

I'd already built lots of Slammers in 28mm and I'd avoided building themin 15mm until the new Ainsty vehicles came along and I buckled link

But now I was in the same position with the West Riding Yeomanry: despite having built a detachment in 28mm using Old crow and Denizen infantry a combination of excellent new vehicle sculpts in 15mm (with the same available in 6mm) from Brigade Models and the same Denizen hard suited marines now being available in both 15mm from Eureka and 6mm from Darkest Star was too good to miss.

A short piece on the painting of this force is now here link

Two new Big Detachment sheets have been produced in both 15mm PDF link and 6mm PDF link which replace the previous ones on the site.

Keep hammering!

The first link is bad due to an extra punctuation character that snuck in.

John, do you have a masterlist somewhere on your site for what models you're using to represent what vehicles in 6mm? I'm putting together several factions, but other than the obvious biggies, I just guess at who to use for what.

I suspect those playing in other scales would be interested in the same themselves.

hmmm……

John Treadaway11 Sep 2013 3:28 p.m. PST

Thanks all

@ captainquirk – thanks for the quick fix. I have gone back and fixed it (just snuck in under the edit time but thanks for spotting)

@ boy wundyr x – A master list is something that keeps getting pushed to the back of the pile of things to do so the short anwer is "not yet".

I have asked some manufacturers of 6mm stuff if they are interested in supplying – hence my joy at the 15mm and 6mm options with Brigade – but am happy to work with manufacturers on this one.

I too think that the Brigade stuff is very nice. When they've done a couple mre in the Eurofed range, I will do a reworked later Compaign de Bathe detachment list using them as well.

I'm also looking at other material they are producing. While I'm at it, I did revamp the contacts page on the Slammers site: page 2 link now has links to Brigade, Critical Mass, Rebel and Armies Army and I'm going to do a third page with other manufacturers that have supplied figures for th mercenary opponents when I get back from Colours.

Thanks Leyland

As I've said, we live in a golden age: nice models, great figures – what's not to like!

John,
Very nice work.

I agree. The Denizen figs are great. I need to contact Old Crow and get some of the Slammer's 6mm vehicles.

Thanks,

John

Actually, I believe those are the Denizen designs, produced in 15mm scale, and sold by Eureka Miniatures, from Oz.

They are great sculpts.

I wish I had half of your talent.

Yeah, I knew that. I meant the look in 25, 15 and 6mm. All cool!

AVAMANGO11 Sep 2013 11:54 p.m. PST

What can i say that's not already been said, ahhhh very inspirational. :)

John Treadaway12 Sep 2013 1:42 a.m. PST

Thanks again folks.

Yep, the lovely Ventauran hard-suited marines being available in three sizes: 28mm though, really, more like large 25mm) from Denizen and the lovely 15mm ones – with extra poses – from Eureka (I do like that support weapon!) and the 6mm from Darkest Star are just fab.

I particularly like the way that the Eureka 15mm not only copy the equipment and style, but directly reproduce some of the actual poses in the larger figures.

Cracking stuff.

On another thread, I'd mentioned my problems with the Army Painter Dip TMP link and said what I'd post some pics of my problem troops. These Eureka Ventauans were the chaps I had the issues with. I was hoping for a more subtle shading but had todoquite a bitof repainting and rescur work to get them even to this stage.

Oooh do you want to e-mail me John, I may be interested in doing some infantry that would be of use…

John Treadaway12 Sep 2013 3:20 a.m. PST

@ Angel Barracks – Let's talk (as they say!)

I'm still interested in that muti-wheeled vehicle of yours too.

Might have to be after Colours, mind you

Thanks for the update John.

My next project will be some Antenociti vehicles I've already bought (Zebu's, Warthogs and Hunchbacks) to extend the Sincanmo Militia to turn them into 'Warrior'* detachments rather than 'Trained' detachments, as per supplement 4. PDF link

After that, if I get a chance, I will do a few Iron Guard vehicles and figures for the Iron Guard of the FDF as 'Commissars'** troop class with new blowers, just to give Slammers a target to shoot at!
