What do you think?

Cerdic29 Aug 2013 2:43 p.m. PST

Crikey!

Space Monkey29 Aug 2013 3:19 p.m. PST

I had that same thought.
Spitting image of a guy I went to High School with.
Not that it matters any which way.

Condorito29 Aug 2013 3:24 p.m. PST

definately although as Mr Cameron would say, we are unable at this point to be absolutely 100% sure, although on balance of probabilities …. :) !

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER29 Aug 2013 3:30 p.m. PST

Wow!

Sundance29 Aug 2013 4:18 p.m. PST

You don't say!

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian29 Aug 2013 4:49 p.m. PST

I don't suppose it is any of your business.

But if you want to know, ask the person.

It doesn't seem appropriate for a general discussion. Would you like it if we discussed your personal matters on a public forum?

The Sentient Bean29 Aug 2013 8:11 p.m. PST

I won't dig the hole any deeper with a rebuttal as much as I am dying to. Message received.

The Sentient Bean30 Aug 2013 12:51 a.m. PST

I will leave you with this though. A quote from you in a thread started by you, Bill.

Every morning, I drive past a billboard that reminds me that it's Gay Pride Week in the area where I live. Which reminds me of a poll we've never taken before: Do you identify yourself as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT)?

TMP link

I suppose you could argue as to tone, but you don't seem to mind probing the membership on similar subjects.

KatieL30 Aug 2013 1:15 a.m. PST

"But if you want to know, ask the person."

Good god, yes, how could that POSSIBLY cause offence?

Have I missed the first part of this conversation or some context or something?

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP30 Aug 2013 2:37 a.m. PST

This thread is in gibberish.

That's all I've got.

The Sentient Bean30 Aug 2013 3:35 a.m. PST

It's a complicated issue of identity, acceptance and deception. People get offended if you're not straight up. People get offended if you are straight up.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian30 Aug 2013 3:35 a.m. PST

…you don't seem to mind probing the membership on similar subjects.

Can I suggest there is a major difference between (a) discussing a specific person in a public forum, and (b) a poll in which participation is optional and results are anonymous?

The Sentient Bean30 Aug 2013 3:36 a.m. PST

But there was no poll Bill (perhaps after). It was a discussion thread that you started, with many people answering.

Dee Jay30 Aug 2013 3:51 a.m. PST

What was the connection to wargaming?

Just curious.

The Sentient Bean30 Aug 2013 3:52 a.m. PST

I guess the thrust of my issue is thus; if you're willing to be an advocate then please do it with best intentions in a straight up manner and let the Bleeped texts drop off. Otherwise you look like a fraud.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian30 Aug 2013 3:57 a.m. PST

But there was no poll Bill (perhaps after). It was a discussion thread that you started, with many people answering.

That's because TMP polls begin as proposals on the forum, on the aptly named TMP Poll Suggestions board.

…if you're willing to be an advocate then please do it with best intentions in a straight up manner…

Who is being an advocate?

The Sentient Bean30 Aug 2013 4:05 a.m. PST

I'm ignoring the semantics.

The second point is a good one. You are, as sponsor.

The Sentient Bean30 Aug 2013 4:30 a.m. PST

Can I suggest there is a major difference between (a) discussing a specific person in a public forum, and (b) a poll in which participation is optional and results are anonymous?

Further Bill, you've made the person a public person. That's on you.

kreoseus230 Aug 2013 5:24 a.m. PST

This can only end well

Temporary like Achilles30 Aug 2013 6:20 a.m. PST

If this is what I think it's about, the person in question takes the feminine pronoun. I don't see why we as general forum users should find probing beyond that any of our business.

Personal logo 20thmaine Supporting Member of TMP30 Aug 2013 7:26 a.m. PST

He said probe.

What are we not talking about ?

Editor Julia30 Aug 2013 9:28 a.m. PST

Who is this "bloke" you are talking about?

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP30 Aug 2013 10:09 a.m. PST

Ditto! Very confused….

DogWater30 Aug 2013 10:34 a.m. PST

This is a disgraceful post. Shame on you and have a stifle.

There is much mischief afoot on TMP at the moment. I'm surprised no one else has picked up on it.

Tin hat30 Aug 2013 12:38 p.m. PST

Julia, you know the fellow. His Mum and Dad were parents and he walks around on his feet a lot.

Patrick Sexton Supporting Member of TMP30 Aug 2013 1:37 p.m. PST

OK, I am very confused.

Sundance30 Aug 2013 2:15 p.m. PST

I just thought the post was gibberish fun. Didn't realize it was pointed at an individual.

Company D Miniatures Supporting Member of TMP31 Aug 2013 2:07 a.m. PST

I don't understand any of this – what's it all about?

Dee Jay31 Aug 2013 2:12 a.m. PST

I have just realised what this is about, and quite honestly if the OP is more than 6 years old he ought to be ashamed of himself.

Pijlie31 Aug 2013 3:08 a.m. PST

What we are experiencing here is the thin line between TMP humour and utter bafflement. WTH is this about?

Cerdic31 Aug 2013 5:34 a.m. PST

I'm the same as Sundance. I didn't realise there was some sort of 'agenda'. What kicked that off then?

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP31 Aug 2013 5:35 a.m. PST

Still confused: what exactly is this about?

venezia sta affondando31 Aug 2013 6:57 a.m. PST

As Alan Partridge once said, "I'm not interested, just confused!".

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP31 Aug 2013 7:13 a.m. PST

I'm too confused to know if I should be interested!

By John 5431 Aug 2013 7:58 a.m. PST

A link? Please?

Abwehrschlacht31 Aug 2013 9:08 a.m. PST

I'm guessing the original link has been edited out, either by the OP who thought better of it, or Bill. Good thing too, whatever it was.

venezia sta affondando31 Aug 2013 9:55 a.m. PST

Reading the above, I think it is about gender and whether a certain someone new is male or female.

Tawdry stuff – if I'm correct – and totally irrelevant on TMP, or anywhere.

nazrat01 Sep 2013 6:35 p.m. PST

There was never any link. The OP was simply being rude and letting readers try and make the connection.

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP02 Sep 2013 2:54 a.m. PST

Agreed!

badwargamer02 Sep 2013 12:47 p.m. PST

I'm not adverse to making the odd controversial comment. Usually tongue in cheek. But in my head I draw a line.

Having a thought about something and joking about it with your mates is one thing, but starting a thread about it is another.
When you know the person you are talking about will read this and may be hurt, then that is a step too far. This one is bordering on a personal attack.

Even though you've not said who you are talking about it is bleedin' obvious to anyone who takes a moment to think.

The Sentient Bean02 Sep 2013 7:17 p.m. PST

Good point. On reflection, t'was rash of me and insensitive. I hope the individual concerned has not taken offence, although that is unlikely. I sincerely apologise.
