Every morning, I drive past a billboard that reminds me that it's Gay Pride Week in the area where I live. Which reminds me of a poll we've never taken before: Do you identify yourself as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT)?

Dances With Words Fezian06 Jun 2010 6:55 p.m. PST

Isn't it 'illegal' to ask that…(at least for employment or any other areas where 'gender/sexual orientation/sex/religion/ethniticity/time-space co-ordinates etc…) are involved???

I'm a BARTENTACLE! It's not MY 'fault' if you don't know which tentacle you're trying to shake 'hands' with!!! and since there's a Mrs Bartentacle…I presume that makes me a 'Mister'….'They Call Me MISTER BARTENTACLE'-in my best Sidney Portier voice…(sequel to Heat of the Night/They Call me Mr. Tibbs/To SLISH with Love??? erm..'SIR'?)

You sure 'T' isn't for 'TRANS-SPECIES' to allow the manga/anime/hetai 'tentacle' lovers in??? (Honey, I smell DEAD CEPHELAPOD on your collar!!!!)

Things that make you go 'hmmmmmmm…'

Saginaw06 Jun 2010 6:58 p.m. PST

No.

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut06 Jun 2010 7:09 p.m. PST

Underneath my name "punkrabbitt" on the Dark Age Games forum is my title of "Angry Transvestite." Does that count? Maybe I will find that picture of me in a dress tonite.

anleiher06 Jun 2010 7:19 p.m. PST

You're very bored, aren't you?

Jovian106 Jun 2010 7:23 p.m. PST

Why the hell do we care?!? Will our toy soldiers or the gamers we game with think of us any different?!? I would hope not. But for purposes of the poll, no. I would hope that there are plenty of life-style choice gamers out there who really don't see it as an issue for a miniature war gaming site. Now, I'm going to go paint the pink facings on my Prussians.

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut06 Jun 2010 7:30 p.m. PST

Aha! I found the pic: TMP link

Sometimes I used to think that I was a lesbian trapped in a mans body….but well….then again I just realized I was really horny….

But to answer your question…no….not that it matters…

Cosmic Reset06 Jun 2010 7:36 p.m. PST

I identify myself as an irishserb.

I don't think so…

BravoX06 Jun 2010 7:47 p.m. PST

It has been too quiet of late hasn't it?

For the purposes of this poll Yes, all of the above.

Actually my (US) boss did say to me last week that listening to ABBA was Gay, so I guess I really must be.

Oppiedog06 Jun 2010 8:08 p.m. PST

I have a hard enough time living "out of the closet" as a gamer …

The Tin Dictator06 Jun 2010 8:19 p.m. PST

No.

But asking a question like that seems to be an obvious attempt by "someone" to re-populate the Dawghouse.

Shouldn't take too long…

Procopius06 Jun 2010 8:19 p.m. PST

Adam and Eve, not bloody Adam and Steve, or Eve and Eve, or Adam trapped in Eve's body or Eve trapped in Adam's body.

The only reason for gender is to procreate, which 2 blokes or 2 girls can't do.

Bill, don't go there! This is a can of worms we don't need opened.

napthyme06 Jun 2010 9:17 p.m. PST

Can the guys declare ourselves as Lesbians???

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER06 Jun 2010 9:34 p.m. PST

I have deep seated sexuality issues.
I may never get any ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BravoX06 Jun 2010 9:50 p.m. PST

I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry-cola
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola

Mulopwepaul06 Jun 2010 9:51 p.m. PST

I'm gay, and so is my wife.

highlandcatfrog06 Jun 2010 9:54 p.m. PST

No. But I still think the Rocky Horror Picture Show is funny.

Procopius06 Jun 2010 9:56 p.m. PST

Indeed it would be tasteless and inappropriate. It couldn't be me, of course, as I have a solid grasp of my sexuality (as opposed to my sexual bits).

On the second question, would people consider it being 'outed' for others to know if they were Jewish/Black/Hispanic, etc.? Is race a reason for shame?

Personal logo Gungnir Supporting Member of TMP06 Jun 2010 10:05 p.m. PST

No, I think I would have noticed by now.

Don't give a hoot about others, as long as they don't make me join anything that conflicts with my hard wiring.

Procopius06 Jun 2010 10:09 p.m. PST

Of course some people have reason for shame over their Deleted by Moderator.

I know where I stand, and I don't really care who knows or what they think of my opinions.

BravoX06 Jun 2010 10:19 p.m. PST

Well I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man

Oldenbarnevelt06 Jun 2010 10:58 p.m. PST

Come on Bill. This has nothing to do with wargaming. Get rid of it.

goragrad06 Jun 2010 11:09 p.m. PST

No.

But there was a young optician a few years ago who just about climbed over the desk at me while I was filling out the paperwork on some new glasses. I think he decided he was just too late to the party when my brother showed up to get me (clutch had gone out on my pickup). The flair with which my brother took off his sunglasses and slipped them into his pocket as he approached the door was almost there (my sister-in-law still tells the story of one of their dates where the waiter at Ruby Tuesday wouldn't stop hitting on my brother).

As noted above – Adam and Eve.

Procopius06 Jun 2010 11:11 p.m. PST

Of course some people have reason for shame over their misguided sexuality.

"I suspect that would be a group attack on people who identify as LGBT. You opinions are your own but there's really no need to be so offensive."

Now, now, please try to keep up. Did I say anywhere in the above post anything at all about LGBT folks? It seems that someone has their own agenda and wouldn't hesitate to put words into other's mouths. If you wish to take my statement as an attack on someone I didn't mention, that is completely up to you, but your insinuations are offensive to me.

Gender politics?? What has gender to do with politics? It is a matter of morals.

Whatisitgood4atwork06 Jun 2010 11:16 p.m. PST

Two questions:

1) If anyone other than our esteemed Editor had posed this question, would it be construed as (imagine a little green dude flexing his biceps here)?

2) Has anyone seen my barge-pole? It's about yea long. (And absolutely NO double entendre was intended in that question.)

BravoX06 Jun 2010 11:20 p.m. PST

Well that's the way that I want it to stay
And I'll always want it to be that way for my Lola
Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola

BravoX06 Jun 2010 11:22 p.m. PST

"And absolutely NO double entendre was intended"
You think any of us believe that! baloney grin

Andrew May106 Jun 2010 11:34 p.m. PST

This is relevant how?

hurcheon07 Jun 2010 1:31 a.m. PST

I think Bravo's response was the most cogent.

Why should people's sexuality matter

At all?

Anywhere?
As long as they aren't interfering with kids or imposing their point of view ad the ONE TRUE WAY why does it matter and why raise it as a topic?

database error07 Jun 2010 1:31 a.m. PST

Does this have anything to do with wargaming?

Grizwald07 Jun 2010 1:33 a.m. PST

This has NOTHING to do with wargaming!

Prince Rupert of the Rhine07 Jun 2010 1:41 a.m. PST

Shouldn't this subject be kept to the plus boards? (if indeed it needs to be asked at all)

Norman D Landings07 Jun 2010 2:02 a.m. PST

Oh, you poor lost sheep… you require the spiritual guidance of Pastor Dr. Martin Sempa, of that fine organization: 'Uganda Stands Against Sodomy'….

Hope that clears things up for you.

It's obviously a slow news day here on TMP.

runs with scissors07 Jun 2010 3:09 a.m. PST

What have sandwich fillings got to do with wargaming?

MacrossMartin07 Jun 2010 3:39 a.m. PST

Actually, now I think of it – I have known and befriended gays and lesbians, some of whom are / were roleplayers – but I don't think I know any who are wargamers… is pushing little men around a wholly heterosexual activity? Could this be an untouched market for wargames and figures manufacturers?

Some of the greatest military minds in history were gay or bi… Takeda Shingen is a personal hero of mine, and he was all for manly love – one of the famous 24 Generals of the Takeda was his lover, but it was his infatuation with a young woman that is traditionally the cause of the downfall of his house. (She was a vengeful fox spirit, you see.)

Space Monkey07 Jun 2010 4:07 a.m. PST

I sometimes think I could be bisexual if it weren't for my not liking men all that much.

Company D Miniatures07 Jun 2010 4:31 a.m. PST

shiroyama207 Jun 2010 4:50 a.m. PST

Does a fascination with ladyboys count? Some of them are surprisingly fit, thought I would insist they had smaller widgers than me ….

Are you a troll or a pie or an beer or unicorn

I'm a cephlapod! (try explaining THAT one to the census taker!!!!)

I don't respond well to the 'your age', 'average annual personal/family income' or 'how many rolls of toilet paper do you average using a week'…type questions either!

I'd already filled out the census form an mailed it in the first day I got it, and I've gotten a reminder card since then, plus the lady next door was hired on as one of the local folks who supposedly follow up on those that haven't responded to filling out their census forms…*sigh

I think I've been 'censed' (incensed?) enough…that I almost feel like one of those 'legendary' Chicago voters that voted for the same candidates/issues 3 times in same election 10 years after they were reported deceased!

Do we have an icon for beating a dead equine yet????

Slish…(oooh, we need a SLISH icon…with sound effect!)
