I'm painting a battalion of Isembourg – simple question. Do they have a flag/standard?

Actually un drapeau seeing as the regiment was in French service. Surely unsolicited pedantry should not be satisfied with half-measures. evil grin

A good thread on this topic (with some interesting links) can be found here:

Good luck trying to find this out.
It's a very cool looking regiment so good choice on the uniform.
If your flag/standard hunt is unsuccessful you can either

1)use your artistic licence and imagination and give them a cool flag of your own making.

2) fall back on a simple regular French regimental tricolour banner.

Either of these will do if the historical truth has vanished.

Not a colour or drapeau… But a "Faensche"

Good choice of troops

Ferg981,

Both battalions of the regiment D'Issembourg carried a drapeau & eagle. The drapeau was of the 1804 pattern with the wordings;

VALEUR
ET DISCIPLINE
1st BATAILLON

Then;

L'EMPEREUR
DES FRANCAIS
AU REGIMENT
D'ISSEMBOURG

If your doing your unit in 28mm, I can't recommend GMBs beautiful set highly enough.

Hope this was a little more helpful than the 1st response you received lol.

this forum is usually in English so " a colour " should do..

Nevertheless, taking that lil' bit of extra time in actually trying to give some kind of answer to what the OP was looking for would probably have been a nice touch.

Thanks ferg981, you've inspired me. I do believe I'm going to form a 36-figure Isembourg battalion in 15mm Minifigs using these figures. I'm leaning toward using the French Tricolor regimental flag.
