JJ Abrams recently laid bare his Star Wars fan boy heart and said that he was never a big Star Trek fan growing up (1:47 of video below):

Now we know why:

I didn't see the cross-posted one until now. My apologies for the redundant posts.

JJ Abrams is not a fan of Star Trek…and it shows in his movies.

Maybe in 20 years, 'Star Trek' and 'Star Wars' will be indistinguishable?…. you know, lots of whining emo-protagonists and gatling phasers slugging it out over dystopian steam-punk futures full of CGI and nebulous pseudo-plots.

In 3D.

"gatling phasers slugging it out over dystopian steam-punk futures full of CGI"

I'm good with just that much. After 'Into Darkness', I don't want them writing plot or dialogue anymore.

Abrams' Trek is better than any of the TNG drek. I'd say it's the best Trek since ST6.

The second link certainly doesn't put JJ in a good light. Demanding that CBS stop making TNG/TOS-era products and leaving in a huff when they wouldn't makes him seem rather….slimy IMO.
