JJ Abrams recently laid bare his Star Wars fan boy heart and said that he was never a big Star Trek fan growing up (1:47 of video below):

Now we know why:

Awwww did widdle Jay-Jay's toys get mixed up with Gene's? So widdle Jay-Jay can't get as much of his candy money because that nasty-old Original Series sells more toys than his hipster copy? Pwoor widdle Jay-Jay…

Nope, really can't muster any sympathy. I tried, and the above was the best I could do.

[Abrams] said that he was never a big Star Trek fan growing up

Like that wasn't obvious.

And I thought it was just for the money. Silly me.

Like that wasn't obvious.

Tell me about it.

Honestly, I find it hard to believe any company would stop making products (and therefore money) for ToS because some people can't tell the difference between it and the reboot.

For enough money, most companies will do anything.

He also seemed to have swiped a bunch of IP from Amarillo Design's Star Fleet games that wasn't in the TV series or movies such as 'Gatling Phasers'.

billthecat28 May 2013 8:45 a.m. PST

Gatling phasers?

HA HA HA HA HA HA…..

That really about sums it up….

cmdr kevin28 May 2013 9:43 a.m. PST

The second movie didn't have Gatling phasers so much as twisty turning missile phasers.

Even if there was some IP swiping, guess who has more money, much more money. That'll tell you who wins the IP fight. Especially if movie studios get involved…
