Does anyone know where I can find ships for the Lake Tanganyika battle fought in WW1? I'm not too particular about scale, anything from 15mm to 1/3000 will suffice.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I assume you've read this thread:

My rules for this are coming on quite nicely.

I missed earlier link for the battle of Lake Tanganyika. Those are fantastic models. Are They all homemade or purchasable?

Indeed I have seen that thread. What I'm looking for is availablity of models for that battle.

Old Glory Shipyard makes 25mm Mimi and Toutou but no German ships for them to fight. The Kingani and the Hedwig would be manageable at that scale, but I calculated that a model of the Graf von Gotzen would have to be about 40 inches long. Wikipedia has good line drawings of Hedwig if you want to scratch build. I had found a link to a drawing of the Kingani, but it was dead the last time I checked back on it.

There was a company called NorthHead out of New Zealand that made models of all the ships that actually fought for both sides in 1/600. They had some sort of family health crisis and went dark for a time. It looked like they were gone for good, but recently their stuff has shown up on Shapeways.

I ordered a set back when they were operating w/o Shapeways. Their ships were beautiful, but delicate. They were cast and assembled unpainted in thin plastic. Upon reflection they might have been early 3d copies. I'm not sure. I checked the Shapeways website and they have the whole Tanganyika line, along with pretty much everything else they had made.

Hope this helps.

Well if you ***read*** the thread, one of the first things you see is David Manley's webpage link. If you go there, you discover that the North Head Miniatures line he depicts is still available on Shapeways. So, since you presumably did all this, you are looking for some other line of miniatures?

If on the other hand, you somehow missed all that, here is the direct link to one of the models on Shapeways:

Hinds thanks for link. That is what I was looking for. I checked the North Head Miniatures website but it is apparently nonexistant at this time.

Don't know if everyone's already noticed, but 1:600 from Tumbling Dice are now available – that's my Dad's Christmas present sorted!
