I received my North Head 1/600 Lake Tanganyika Set in the mail today and decided to give a quick review. The ships appear to be made out of blue and white resin or sheet styrene (or both), I am not really sure. They are completely assembled and have an unbelievable amount of detail, the quality is superb (even seats and console on the Mimi and Toutou). The ships will be a challenge to paint as there is a lot of detail (some that is in awkward places). My only complaint is that there wasn't much in the form of packing material to cushion the rigors of shipping from New Zealand to the US. There were some fragile bits damaged (gun shield on the Gotzen, a roof support on the Wissman and the gun on the Kingani). The damaged parts should be able to be fixed without a lot of headaches, just some steady hands and a magnifying glass. Overall I am extremely happy with the set, these are not crude resin casts, and have the detail to be collector quality.

What figures and rules are you using to game the East africa campaign on land?

Figures, thats easy! I am using IT Miniatures range 20mm range. It is pretty comprehensive and covers the Germans, Force Publique, British, and Portuguese. Thus far, I only have Germans and Askaris and they are very nice figures.

Hi,

Do North Head have a web page?

I just received my set today. Unbelievable detail on the boats. Decks are decks you can see through under, and all details are straight and thin.
Very impressed!
