I think my generic desert layout looks OK for NKE battles TMP link but I'd like to upgrade & a pyramid seems within my modelling skill abilities. Not your big Cheops-type pyramid but a smaller Middle Kingdom one. It needs to cover a small area adding atmosphere more than anything else. Now any idiot can build a pyramid but are there any clever tips out there that might make mine look better than a Grade-school project? |

Take a look at Hirst Arts' web site, he makes Egyptian & pyramid block molds, so he has several ideas that could work for you. The old style tombs also continued to be used by the nobility – look up 'mastaba'. Basically a trailer park for the afterlife, lots of enclosed courtyards with smaller buildings for family offerings, mini pyramids, columns etc. A good solid industry, after all, nothing is certain except death & taxes

Or do a step pyramid, they look a little different but give you levels to stick figs on if they fight over it. +3 to all egyptian units defending a tomb though given their afterlife views

As an alternative you may consider the one from Old Glory. I bought one for my Sytgia games at Historicon. It is 14"x14" at the base, has 3 internal rooms – 9x9, 6x6, and 3x3 on 3 levels and comes with a Sarcaphagous and mummy. It is made from Tan foam and is essentially board ready with drybrushing. link It says 15mm, but also works for 28s our anything else. Lost Pict |

I made one for my son's school project using pink foam. It was 12-13 inches tall. I only did three sides though. I used spackle to cover the edges and scribed the foam showing the blocks. Looked pretty cool. He left it at school too long and they tossed it though. I was NOT pleased! Thanks, John |

Check out "Project Bricks": link You could always use some of these papercraft templates to make something out of plasticard: link Or, if you feel adventurous

I bought three aquarium pyramids. They look pretty good right out of the box. Here they are with some 10mm Warmaster figures.
They are 6" x6" at the base. Here's an eBay auction for the same one: auction |
