The field of battle: Old School terrain using a felt ground mat and minimal terrain items, all scratch-built.
Rules were Field of Glory

The Hittites, with more chariots on the day, were able to manouevre in great sweeps that left the Egyptians at a disadvantage

Egyptian infantry prepares to meet a chariot attack.

The Egyptian chariotry meet a set back

Egyptian archers….couldn't hit a barn door

A panoramic view of the battlefield

A cunning move that put another Hittite chariot force on the flank

Lots of discussion but the Egyptians were forced to throw in the towel

Wow, you did a great job on the painting and basing! Really first rate. thumbs up I'm jealous.

The nice thing is you have inspired me to work on my own Chariot armies in 1/72!

Any tips on your flocking technique?

How did you like the rules? How did they handle chariot warfare? How long did your game run?

Thanks,

John

@ John, our first FoG game (Punics) went for 5 hours with no finish. This was the beginning of the learning curve.

8 months later, we had 2 games of Bronze Age, each well under 2 hours including setting up & match post-mortem. Slick!

IMO FoG need effort put into the rules but once you master them, they provide a great game.

The only thing I can tell you about flocking is don't stint. I apply glue & literally pour whatever item I'm adding over the bases: sand, small gravel, medium & large. Grass tufts are, of course, a god-send.

Thanks for the kind comments all.

Nice looking game! Figures look great and the scenery, while kind of basic, looks really nice as well.

Excellent looking figs, and the scenery SHOULD be minimalist – it's a desert, after all. wink

No apologies needed for a good looking game with nice figures. Or the fact it is 'old school'.
Good AAR TOO.
