I've stifled three people today because they're getting their politics all over my minis.

Did something happen in the real world that I've missed that's making everybody cranky?

Or is just because it's Zardoz Day?

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER06 Feb 2013 9:46 a.m. PST

It's most likely both!

My Theory:

Chart a calender with the major conventions listed. Look at the days that are midway between these events. Those are the times when tensions rise due to seperation anxiety.

It's the internet…making Bleeped texts out of normally alright people since 1997.

What cleaner do you use to get that mess offa your minis, Meiczyslaw?

kallman06 Feb 2013 10:57 a.m. PST

What topics are affecting you? It is a forum for miniatures and much has been done to keep the politics at bay but people will still talk. I hope I am not to blame.

ataulfo06 Feb 2013 11:29 a.m. PST

They are not your minis…

Meiczyslaw06 Feb 2013 11:49 a.m. PST

Deliberate Ignorance. It works great.

I hope I am not to blame.

Honestly? You were number 3, but the first two had gotten me into a really bad mood, so not entirely your fault.

Obviously, your offending comment wasn't so bad that I needed to continue to glory in the grey box. Much. wink

Wow! I was number three? Clearly I must try harder.
evil grin

Combat Painter, I suspect it is this thread. I have been somewhat verbose on the topic.

I'm only talking with whitemanticore because he kinda-sorta outed himself. People who aren't self-aware don't see anything wrong with their own actions, so I don't want to get into an argument with no point.

And whitemanticore is right about the thread. His philosophical question should have been asked in a separate thread, because it can be interpreted as an attempt at Chinese apologia through equivalence and distraction.

(The question is, "a what point is a nation no longer held responsible for its crimes?" It's a "sins of the fathers" type question that doesn't really have a good answer.)

kallman06 Feb 2013 1:10 p.m. PST

Meiczyslaw,

I think you and others on the thread in question are reading more into my writing than is there. I am about to provide further rebuttal on the thread in question. If you desire please follow up there. I will understand if you do not want to.

And thanks for the somewhat backhanded compliment. I have rarely on TMP gotten involved in the more volatile discussion here. Because like most of us I want to talk about miniatures and war gaming and not get bogged down in issues that are better left for other forums. A person that does not take time for self reflection is shallow and will not grow emotionally. I felt the statement that sparked my comments was overly simplistic given the nature of the world dynamics.

Finally the OP has posted the secret code to wake the SADACH (Sleeper agent defence and code hackers) that were planted 20 years ago in all civilised wargaming hobby countries.
I shall have to check his other posts to see what cunning and tricksy coded messages have been released so far.

time for counter measures . those in the know I shall now announce .. Wibble..

I think you and others on the thread in question are reading more into my writing than is there.

Then take it as constructive criticism about your writing. If multiple people are misunderstanding you, then you have probably written in a way to be misunderstood.

Silent Pool06 Feb 2013 4:51 p.m. PST

Meh

Meiczyslaw06 Feb 2013 5:25 p.m. PST

It's something with the day. I see somebody got tossed in the Dawghaus for politics, and he wasn't even somebody I was complaining about earlier.

It's all the red diaper! Fear it!

kallman06 Feb 2013 6:54 p.m. PST

Meiczyslaw I have to disagree about my writing. I think I have taken time to use correct clear sentence structure, grammar, syntax, and of course correct spelling; however, there are those who want to infer more and jump to conclusions. I feel this is a common result of an unwillingness in the internet environment to take the time to read carefully, consider what is being stated, write one's response, review said response, edit, edit again, think once more, then if satisfied hit the send button.

With that stated the thread that is the cause of your ire has, you have to admit, provided some fertile ground for some interesting discussion. I am pleased that it has not devolved, as is the normal case, into a flame war. Those posting are taking the time to state their point of view and there has been reasonable debate. All in all not bad for TMP considering. So far I have not picked up any new stifles which has never been a concern for me. I attempt to be polite on TMP and if anyone feels that my statements offends them then the issue is with them.

And then it again perhaps it is the red diaper. wink

flooglestreet06 Feb 2013 7:30 p.m. PST

It's not just the red diaper, it is the suspenders too.

Keraunos07 Feb 2013 12:16 a.m. PST

i blame the grandparents
(cause when i was young, folk blamed parents, and nothing seems to have changed for a generation)

Meiczyslaw07 Feb 2013 10:23 a.m. PST

I think I have taken time to use correct clear sentence structure, grammar, syntax, and of course correct spelling …

It has nothing to do with English, and everything to do with Rhetoric. (It's not the same thing.)

Changing topics is a classic red herring (see link ), and that's how it's interpreted.

It's something even I forget, with all the innocent thread-jacks that happen around here.

kallman07 Feb 2013 8:20 p.m. PST

Meiczyslaw,

Nice link. I will add it to my education.

COL Scott0again08 Feb 2013 9:43 a.m. PST

I find that it is often best to just ignore some people and it is easy to do on the internet. Although sometimes some people are just more sensitive then others.
