D6 Junkie | 04 Feb 2013 3:01 p.m. PST |
So when will figs be available? Or is that what the timer is for? |
robertsjf | 04 Feb 2013 3:28 p.m. PST |
Timer's for the big reveal, I believe. They're posting little snippets on their facebook page (concept art, 3-d renders, low res sculpts). I'm impressed with what little they've shown thus far. |

Now's the time to buy your big bag of eighty Imperials & Bauhaus plastics from Prince August for £17.10 GBP, before they lose the rights to flog all the 1st ed. stuff. |
15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 04 Feb 2013 4:03 p.m. PST |
Sorry, but someone else beat you to it: TMP link |
billthecat | 04 Feb 2013 4:08 p.m. PST |
So no more WarZone from Prince August? |
ordinarybass | 04 Feb 2013 4:17 p.m. PST |
As far as I know, Prince August was never in possession of Warzone IP. I think they were just selling old stock. I don't even know what they had in terms of casting rights as they had alot of stuff that was out of stock. I assume they'll keep selling what they have. |
Warlord | 04 Feb 2013 4:50 p.m. PST |
They are bound to take a hit as many take a Wait and see appraoch to this thing. It is said they are redoing/re-realising the miniature line but dont know until they give more information which is very cryptic at the moment. |
John Leahy | 04 Feb 2013 5:15 p.m. PST |
Yeah, I believe Prince August just picked up stock. No IP rights. I'm more curious about the rules. They have mentioned wanting to keep prices very competitive! Thanks, John |
Charles Marlow | 04 Feb 2013 7:40 p.m. PST |
Hurray! I'm saving cash in anticipation! I don't know if I'll buy new rules? But, I will but new minis
|
billthecat | 05 Feb 2013 12:00 a.m. PST |
Definitley keeping an eye on this
|
robertsjf | 05 Feb 2013 7:04 a.m. PST |
Sorry, but someone else beat you to it: Well that's embarrassing! Also an excellent example of why the crosspost should be used!
Latest image up: it's D20, just like the old days |
The Beast Rampant | 05 Feb 2013 8:30 a.m. PST |
Wonderful! 2e WZ was my favorite SF rules set, and I love the world. Great to see it coming back! |
billthecat | 05 Feb 2013 12:35 p.m. PST |
Any news on model count? (20-30 or 50-80 per side, etc
)? |
Turtle | 05 Feb 2013 9:18 p.m. PST |
d20? How did the old rules work? Was it handfuls of d20s or some kind of calculation for hits and such? |
John Leahy | 05 Feb 2013 10:08 p.m. PST |
Ranged combat factor minus armor factor equals what you need to hit on a d20. |
robertsjf | 07 Feb 2013 3:21 p.m. PST |
1st 3 factions announced thus far: Brotherhood, Dark Legion, Cybertronic. They are doing 4 factions in the first wave. They also posted a scrap of rules at the FB |
Capt Flash | 08 Feb 2013 6:48 a.m. PST |
While I'm pretty fired up about this( to say the verrry least), I still play and love 1st edition. It's more minis I want. That being said, I'll get the rulebook just to add fuel to the fire. |
AgustinSantos | 09 Feb 2013 12:57 a.m. PST |
Have all the previews so far been Dark Legion and Cybertronic? Or have any been Brotherhood? I don't know Warzone well enough to know what is what. EDIT: I looked through the facebook page and it looks like all the previews have been DL and CT. I'm looking forward to seeing the Brotherhood previews when they come out, but so far the stuff is looking great. |
IronMike | 09 Feb 2013 2:49 a.m. PST |
I'm sorry but WarZone is going to totally have to be revamped before I even begin to pretend to care. 'Megacorporations at war' as a theme is so stale that you could crumble it up and feed it to pigeons, and the whole 'big shoulders and bigger guns' look is so '80s-era 2000AD that it's officially painful to look at. |

AgustinSantos | 09 Feb 2013 10:08 a.m. PST |
Also IronMike, have you looked at any of the previews? I'm not seeing the early 90s aesthetic there. The designs are definitely far more modern. |
billthecat | 09 Feb 2013 1:01 p.m. PST |
But are they 'better'
? I am more concerned about a)pricing, and b)rules. Time will tell
|
ChrisValera | 10 Feb 2013 11:52 p.m. PST |
Just heard about this, and I am very impressed. They've put out more concept art and greens so far than Gates of Antares has over its entire kickstarter run. |
robertsjf | 12 Feb 2013 6:50 a.m. PST |
And in further news: "Prodos Games are very please to announce the addition of Mr. Andy Hoare to the MC Warzone resurrection writing team. Andy is a massive Mutant Chronicles fan and has been battling in the Solar System since the early 90s. Andy Hoare is a veteran of the tabletop wargaming industry having worked for Games Workshop, Wyrd, Architects of War, Mantic and others. He works as a freelance designer and author and lives in the Midlands in the UK, the spiritual home of the tabletop wargaming scene." |

From: link This is what I posted elsewhere: Q. Are the old miniatures making a comeback? A. No, these are completely new miniatures, with a great effort to bring them in line with modern designs, whilst still keeping in tune with the original artwork which WILL be used again as it hasn't aged like the miniatures. Q. Who is behind Prodos Games? A. Some folks from the UK who were big fans of the original game that felt disappointed when the game died. We've worked really hard to get this liscense and it's important we do it justice. We also understand the disappointment that failure could bring customers and every effort is being made to ensure the success of this project, with a modern market being kept in mind at all times. Jarek Ever and Mark Rapson are the driving force, with a supporting base of friends, including professional Miniature Designers, Rules developers, Graphic Designers and writers. We're a creative group of mates! Q. What scale will the miniatures be? A. Heroic 28mm. Modern standard (i.e. GW, Warmachine, Malifaux, Dark Age, Etc) Q. Can I still use my old miniatures in the new game? A. Yes indeed, but given the new designs, you won't want to! Q. What material are the models made of? A. High Quality Plastic and eventually Resin too, but they are going to be priced accordingly. This is going to make the game very accessible, but still have a 'hobby' aspect rather than pre-painted, collectable (as has recently been attempted with the Mutant Chronicles Liscense). Q. How will the miniatures be produced? A. An odd one, but important. These are 3D printed
I know, I know, WHAAAAAT?! But 3D printing looks ugly and the texture is horrible! Well, last year a new printer was developed that creates beatiful, smooth textures in high quality plastic, replicating the 3D sculpt perfectly. Not only are they incredibly cost effective, but the material is still high quality, check out the pictures on the facebook page (you don't have to be a member to view AFAIK). Q. Is Prodos Games affiliated with FFG or Prince August? A. No, not at all. Prodos Games, as fans of Warzone 1st, 2nd and 3rd edition felt diappointed by the FFG offering and also feel that to make Warzone thrive again, they must make up to date sculpts that are still true to the artwork and storyline. Q. What are the rules like? A. Still in last stages of Development. All I can say is they are D20 driven. I hope that helps you out, please keep asking questions and those of you that do have Facebook, please follow this link: link A website is in production, but there's nothing there at the moment. Keep an eye out, but I will make sure to keep you updated. link |
AgustinSantos | 12 Feb 2013 10:48 p.m. PST |
I love that the plastic is confirmed. We'll have to wait and see what that means for prices though as Wyrd, GW, Privateer and others has shown that plastic doesn't mean inexpensive. And the 3D printing technology has indeed come a long way.

John Leahy | 13 Feb 2013 12:18 a.m. PST |
Yeah, plastic and priced accordingly imply a reasonable price. I would likely buy a decent amount then. I own 100's and 100's of WZ figs for every faction. So while I am likely to buy the rules and run them locally if I like them, buying will be focused on value provided. Thanks, John |
AgustinSantos | 14 Feb 2013 6:47 a.m. PST |
I have lots of the old WZ stuff too. I'm looking forward to seeing more complete information about this new stuff. I really want everything about this to be awesome, but who knows if the game will actually be good, or if the final production miniatures will turn out good. Or if it will be priced at a point that makes sense for what you get. |
